IPSWICH BOROUGH COUNCIL (SUFFOLK COUNTY COUNCIL (BOROUGH OF IPSWICH) (STOPPING, WAITING AND LOADING PROHIBITIONS AND RESTRICTIONS AND ON-STREET PARKING PLACES) (CONSOLIDATION) ORDER 2019) KEY STREET (PROHIBITION OF WAITING EXCEPT TAXIS) ORDER 2025

Ipswich Borough Council (“the Council”) under Sections 1, 2, 4, 45 and 46 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 and all other enabling powers, proposes to make the above Order, the effect of which will be to amend certain aspects of the Suffolk County Council (Borough of Ipswich) (Stopping, Waiting and Loading Prohibitions and Restrictions and On-Street Parking Places) (Consolidation) Order 2019, as amended, by replacing revision 2 of Map Tile GM123 with revision 3 of the same Map Tile.

The effect of this would be to introduce a restriction of ‘no waiting at any time except for taxis’ for a length of 25 meters on the west side of the section of Key Street in the Borough of Ipswich, opposite the west side of the Old Custom House (outside The Cambria), between the east to west section of Key Street and its junction with Common Quay.

Exemptions to the waiting restrictions allow a vehicle to wait for so long as is necessary to board or alight or to load or unload for building, industrial or demolition works; for emergency services; for the maintenance of the road or its services and to fulfil statutory duties. The usual exemptions for blue badge holders will apply.

A copy of the proposed Order and other applicable documents can be viewed on the Council’s website at: https://www.ipswich.gov.uk/your-council/consultations/current-consultations or they may be viewed free of charge at the Council’s offices at Grafton House, 15–17 Russell Road, Ipswich, IP1 2DE between 9.00am and 5.00pm Monday to Friday.

If you wish to object or make other representations about the proposed Order these must be made in writing to the address below not later than 16th June 2025. All objections must state the grounds on which they are made. Please note that any objection or representation may be published as part of any report into the proposed Order and if so will be publicly available to view.
