What is happening?

THE METROPOLITAN BOROUGH COUNCIL OF STOCKPORT
(HEMPSHAW LANE, OFFERTON AND VARIOUS ROADS - PHASE 1) (TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) NOTICE 2025

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the Metropolitan Borough Council of Stockport proposes to make an Order not less than 7 days from the date of this Notice under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 as amended by the Road Traffic (Temporary Restrictions) Act 1991, the effect of which will be to introduce a Temporary Prohibition of Driving at Hempshaw Lane, Offerton - From the junction of Marple Road in a westerly direction for approx. 50m, Marple Road, Offerton - From the junction of Hempshaw Lane in a south-westerly direction for approx. 60m, Montagu Road, Offerton - From the junction of Marple Road in a northerly direction for approx. 15m. Offerton Lane, Offerton - From the junction of Hempshaw Lane in a northerly direction for approx. 50m, whilst traffic signs to that effect are in place on or near the said road.This Order is necessary to allow for tarmac resurfacing works to take place. It is estimated these works will last 7 days. Overnight Works to take place between 19:00 & 05.00 (noisy operations to finish at 00:00).A diversion will be provided via: Offerton Lane and Marple Road diversion: Hillcrest Road, Dialstone Lane, Banks Lane, and vice versa. 

Hempshaw Lane diversion 1: Dialstone Lane, Hillcrest Road, and vice versa.

Hempshaw Lane diversion 2: Dialstone Lane, Banks Lane, and vice versa. Montagu Road diversion: Curzon Road, Fortescue Road, and vice versa. This Notice does not apply to any vehicle on any occasion when it is being used for fire brigade, ambulance or police purposes. This Notice does not apply to pedestrians. This Order is to come into operation on the 5 June 2025 and will have effect for eighteen months, provided that if all necessary works are completed within a shorter period this Order shall cease to have effect at the end of that shorter period.
