Norwich, Temporary Road Closures Due To Various Works

TEMPORARY TRAFFIC REGULATION ORDERS 2025 (NORWICH)

Road Traffic Regulation Act, 1984

Norfolk County Council in exercise of its powers under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, hereby give notice that:

IT PROPOSE TO MAKE Temporary Traffic Regulation Orders in respect of the following roads:

NORTH PARK AVENUE – from its junction with De Hague Road to its junction with Bluebell Road to facilitate resurfacing works and repairs to humps and gullies from 28th to 30th May 2025 (may continue until 11th July 2025).

Alternative route is: North Park Avenue, Colman Road, The Avenues, Bluebell Road. The works promoter is Norfolk County Council.

PORTLAND STREET – from its junction with Unthank Road to its junction with Potterfield Road to facilitate replacement of communications ducts and pipes from 29th May to 25th June 2025 (may continue until 25th January 2026). Alternative route is: Unthank Road, Lincoln Street, Potterfield Road. The works promoter is Anglian Water.

ST CLEMENTS HILL – from its junction with Wall Road for 18m southwards to facilitate carriageway core repairs, the road is to be temporarily closed/restricted (except for pedestrian access and 2-way traffic for emergency services) for 600m north-eastwards; and 2) Essex Street from its entire length to facilitate carriageway core repairs, the road is to be temporarily closed/restricted (except for pedestrian access and traffic for emergency services) for the period 18m southwards of its junction with Unthank Road from 28th to 27th May 2025 (may continue until 8th July 2025). Alternative route is: via Wall Road, Constitution Hill, St Clements Hill and vice versa. The works promoter is Hutchison 3G Ltd.

UNTHANK ROAD – 1) Unthank Road from 30m southwest of its junction with Essex Street for 60m north-eastwards; and 2) Essex Street from its entire length to facilitate carriageway core repairs, and 3) Essex Street from its junction with Unthank Road for 30m eastwards; and 3) Essex Street from its entire length to facilitate carriageway core repairs, the road is to be temporarily closed/restricted (except for pedestrian access and traffic for emergency services) of the way (where the Road 3) shall be temporarily subject to the suspension of one-way system (eastbound) to allow vehicles to travel in both an east and west direction from 28th to 29th May 2025 (may continue until 10th July 2025). Alternative route is: via Unthank Road, Colman Road, Earlham Road, Colman Road. The works promoter is Anglian Water.

IT THEY HAVE MADE Temporary Traffic Regulation Orders in respect of the following roads:

BRACONDALE & MARTINEAU LANE – 1) A1054 Bracondale (inclusive of the roundabout) from its junction with King Street to its junction with Martineau Lane Roundabout; and 2) C202 Bracondale (inclusive of the roundabout) from its junction with Martineau Lane Roundabout for 55m southwards; and

3) Martineau Lane (inclusive of the roundabout) from its junction with A146 Loddon Road to its junction with Bracondale Lane Roundabout to facilitate resurfacing works from 18th to 20th and 06:00 to 19:00 (18th to 24th May 2025) (may continue until 5th July 2025). Alternative route is: King Street, St Stephens Road, Ipswich Road, Lakenham Road, Barrett Road, Martineau Lane and vice versa. 2) Martineau Lane, Barrett Road, Long John Hill, Stoke Road, White Horse Lane and vice versa. Road 3): Bracondale, Queens Road, St Stephen’s Road, Ipswich Road, Lakenham Road, Barrett Road and vice versa. The works promoter is Norfolk County Council.

Unless otherwise stated, the effect of these Orders will be to prohibit the use by vehicles of the named road(s) (except for access). Where appropriate during the works, temporary suspension of existing permanent Traffic Orders may be imposed. It is anticipated that the restriction will apply at all times or as indicated by signs on site and only when the necessary signs are in place. Where appropriate, temporary closures of footways, cycle tracks and/or bus stops may also be required. Exemptions may be provided in the Order for certain classes of vehicles, such as emergency service vehicles or for persons with a particular interest in the land.

The provisions of the Order will not apply during such times and to such extent as may be indicated by signs placed on the road. The Orders will have a maximum duration of:

6 months in respect of footpaths, cycle paths, bridleways, restricted byways, and byways open to all traffic (BOAT).

Penalty: £1000 maximum fine on conviction and/or endorsement for contravention.
