What is happening?

HERTFORDSHIRE COUNTY COUNCIL:

(TEMPORARY CLOSING OF VARIOUS ROADS IN TRING, HEMEL HEMPSTEAD AND BERKHAMSTED) ORDER 2025

NOTICE is given that Hertfordshire County Council intends to make an Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, to prohibit all vehicular traffic from using the following lengths of roads (“the Roads”):-

1. that length of A41 Tring Bypass, Tring from a point 434m south east of its junction with the B488 Icknield Way/B4635 Aylesbury Road south eastwards and north eastwards to its junction with A41 (unnamed road), a distance of approximately 2821m. An alternative route will be via A41 (Tring Bypass/unnamed road/Aston Clinton Road/ Tring Road/High Street/Exchange Street), A413 (Wendover Road/unnamed road/Nash Lee Road/London Road/Aylesbury Road/unnamed road), A355 (Gore Hill/London Road

West), A416 (Station Road/Chesham Road/Amersham Road/Red Lion Street/Red Lion Street/St Marys Way/Broad Street/Berkhampstead Road/Nashleigh Hill/Ashley Green Road/Chesham Road) and A41 (unnamed road).

2. that length of A41 (unnamed road), Hemel Hempstead from its junction with the M25 (junction 20)/A4251 Watford Road roundabout north westwards for a distance of approximately 2108m.

An alternative route will be via A4251 (Watford Road/High Street/Hempstead Road/ London Road/Two Waters Way) and A41 (unnamed road).

3. that length of A41 (unnamed road), Berkhamsted from its junction with A41 Tring Bypass north eastwards and south eastwards to its junction with A416 Chesham Road, a distance of approximately 7461m.

An alternative route will be via A41 Tring Bypass, A4251 (Tring Road/High Street/

Gossoms End/High Street) and A416 (Kings Road/Kings Hill Way/Chesham Road).

4.  the A41 southbound slip road leading onto the A41 Two Waters Way Intersection, Hemel Hempstead from its junction with the southbound carriageway of A41 (unnamed road) south eastwards to its junction with A41 Two Waters Way Intersection, a distance of approximately 627m.

An alternative route will be via A41 (unnamed road), the M25 (junction 20)/A4251 Watford Road roundabout and A41 (unnamed road/the Two Waters Way Intersection).

The Order is needed because works are proposed to be executed on or near the Roads.

If the Order is made, it shall come into force on 9 June 2025 for a period of up to 18 months. However, the restrictions specified shall only take effect at the times indicated by signs on or near the Roads.

(TEMPORARY CLOSING OF WINGRAVE ROAD, GUBBLECOTE) ORDER 2025

NOTICE is given that Hertfordshire County Council has made the above Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, to prohibit all vehicular traffic from using that length of Wingrave Road, Gubblecote from its junction with Tring Public Footpath No.026 north westwards for a distance of approximately 25m (“the Road”).

An alternative route will be via Wingrave Road, B489 Lower Icknield Way, Broad Highway, Astrope Lane, Tring Road and Wingrave Road.

The Order is needed because utility service works are proposed to be executed on or near the Road.

The Order has been made and shall come into force on 28 May 2025 for a period of up to 18 months. However, the restrictions specified shall only take effect at the times indicated by signs on or near the Road.

(TEMPORARY CLOSING OF VARIOUS ROADS IN KINGS LANGLEY AND HEMEL HEMPSTEAD) ORDER 2025

NOTICE is given that Hertfordshire County Council has made the above Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, to prohibit all vehicular traffic from using the following lengths of roads (“the Roads”), except for access:-

1.  that length of The Orchard, Kings Langley from its junction with Church Lane north westwards and south westwards for a distance of approximately 145m. There is no alternative route available for vehicles when the works are being carried out. However vehicular access to properties in this road will be maintained whenever possible throughout the duration of the works.

2. that length of A4251 London Road, Hemel Hempstead from its junction with White Lion Street north westwards to its junction with Durrants Hill Road, a distance of approximately 94m.

An alternative route will be via A4251 London Road, Weymouth Street, Storey Road, Winifred Road, Featherbed Lane and A4251 London Road.

3.  that length of Sealy Way, Hemel Hempstead from its junction with Weymouth Street north eastwards to its junction with A4251 London Road for a distance of approximately 82m.

An alternative route will be via Weymouth Street, Storey Road, Winifred Road, Featherbed Lane and A4251 London Road or via Weymouth Street and A4251 London Road.

The Order is needed because works are proposed to be executed on or near the Roads. The Order has been made and shall come into force on 26 May 2025 for a period of up to 18 months. However, the restrictions specified shall only take effect at the times indicated by signs on or near the Roads.

(TEMPORARY CLOSING OF PANCAKE LANE, HEMEL HEMPSTEAD) ORDER NO.2 2025

NOTICE is given that Hertfordshire County Council has made the above Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, to prohibit all vehicular traffic from using that length of Pancake Lane, Hemel Hempstead from its junction with Lombardy Close south westwards to its junction with Badgers Croft, a distance of approximately 84m (“the Road”), except for access.

An alternative route will be via Pancake Lane, Westwick Row, Green Lane, A4147 Leverstock Green Road and Pancake Lane.

The Order is needed because utility service works are proposed to be executed on or near the Road.

The Order has been made and shall come into force on 27 May 2025 for a period of up to 18 months. However, the restrictions specified shall only take effect at the times indicated by signs on or near the Road.

(TEMPORARY CLOSING OF RIVER HILL, FLAMSTEAD) ORDER 2025

NOTICE is given that Hertfordshire County Council has made the above Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, to prohibit all vehicular traffic from using that length of River Hill, Flamstead from its junction with A5183 London Road south westwards for a distance of approximately 248m (“the Road”), except for access.

An alternative route will be via A5183 London Road, Chequers Hill, Singlets Lane, High Street and River Hill.

The Order is needed because works are proposed to be executed on or near the Road.

The Order has been made and shall come into force on 26 May 2025 for a period of up to 18 months. However, the restrictions specified shall only take effect at the times indicated by signs on or near the Road.

(TEMPORARY CLOSING OF POTTEN END HILL, GREAT GADDESDEN) ORDER 2025

NOTICE is given that Hertfordshire County Council has made the above Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, to prohibit all vehicular traffic from using that length of Potten End Hill, Great Gaddesden from a point 28m south west of its junction with Great Gaddesden Public Footpath No.057 south westwards to its junction with Great Gaddesden Public Footpath No.062, a distance of approximately 1152m (“the Road”), except for access.

An alternative route will be via Potten End Hill, Water End Road, The Common, Hempstead

Lane, Berkhamsted Road, Boxted Road, Galley Hill, B440 Leighton Buzzard Road and Potten End Hill.

The Order is needed because utility service works are proposed to be executed on or near the Road.

The Order has been made and shall come into force on 28 May 2025 for a period of up to 18 months. However, the restrictions specified shall only take effect at the times indicated by signs on or near the Road.

(TEMPORARY TRAFFIC MANAGEMENT MEASURES ON THE QUEENS SQUARE

AND THE FOOTWAY SITUATED ON BOTH SIDES OF THE QUEENS SQUARE,

HEMEL HEMPSTEAD) ORDER 2025

NOTICE is given that Hertfordshire County Council has made the above Order under

Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, the effect of which will be:- 1. To prohibit all vehicular traffic from using the following length of road (“the Road”) and to prohibit all vehicles from waiting at any time on both sides of this length of

Road whilst works are in progress:-

a) that length of The Queens Square, Hemel Hempstead from a point in line with the north western boundary of ‘The Jubilee Public House’ south eastwards for a distance of approximately 44m.

There is no alternative route available for vehicles when the works are being carried out. However vehicular access to properties in this road will be maintained whenever possible throughout the duration of the works.

2. To prohibit all pedestrians from using the footway situated on both sides of The Queens Square, Hemel Hempstead from a point in line with the north western boundary of ‘The Jubilee Public House’ south eastwards for a distance of approximately 44m (“the Footway”).

There is no alternative route available for pedestrians when the works are being carried out. However pedestrian access to properties along this footway will be maintained whenever possible throughout the duration of the works. The Order is needed because works are proposed to be executed on or near the Road and Footway.

The Order has been made and shall come into force on 26 May 2025 for a period of up to 18 months. However, the restrictions specified shall only take effect at the times indicated by signs on or near the Road and Footway. THE HERTFORDSHIRE (CHESHAM ROAD, BERKHAMSTED) 

(PROHIBITION OF STOPPING ON ENTRANCE MARKINGS) ORDER 2025

ROAD HUMPS NOTICE (CHESHAM ROAD AND HILLTOP ROAD, 

BERKHAMSTED) 2025

NOTICE is given that the Hertfordshire County Council in order to improve road safety proposes under the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 to introduce new stopping restrictions in parts of Chesham Road, Berkhamsted as specified in Schedule 1 to this Notice.

It is also proposed under sections 90A – 90F of the Highways Act 1980 and in accordance with The Highways (Road Humps) Regulations 1999, to install flat topped road humps in those lengths of Chesham Road and Hilltop Road, Berkhamsted as specified in Schedule 2 to this Notice.

SCHEDULE 1: Prohibition of stopping on entrance ‘School Keep Clear’ markings 8.00am to 5.00pm Monday to Friday – those sections of road listed below and as set

out in the Order and scheme plans – 

Parts of Chesham Road – to replace the existing markings

SCHEDULE 2: Flat topped road humps – those sections of road listed below and as set out in the scheme plans –  Parts of Chesham Road and Hilltop Road.

Chesham Road – from a point 19.77 metres south west of a point in line with the south west wall of Field Cottage, Hilltop Road south westwards for 6 metres. Hilltop Road – from a point 10.43 metres north west of a point in line with the south east facia wall of 98 Hilltop Road north westwards for 6 metres.

From a point 5.14 metres south east of a point in line with the boundary between 13 and 14 Curlew Close north westwards for 6 metres.

The flat topped road humps will be constructed at a height of approximately 65mm above the existing carriageway with on/off gradients of approximately 1:20. The making of Traffic Regulation Orders is a statutory function of the County Council.
