Kent County Council, acting in exercise of its powers under the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, makes or intends to make the following Orders.
CANTERBURY
A290 St Dunstans Street, Canterbury, CT2 8AB (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER JUNE 2025
To allow rail inspection works to be carried out, Kent County Council has made an Order prohibiting through traffic on part of A290 St Dunstans Street, Canterbury, from 1st June 2025, for up to one day, between the hours of 07:00 and 19:00, or until the works have been completed.
The road will be closed 20m either side of St Dunstans level crossing, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.
The alternative route for traffic is via A290 St Dunstans Street, B2248 Station Road West, St Stephen’s Road, St Stephen’s Hill, Beaconsfield Road, Forty Acres Road, A290 Whitstable Road, St Dunstans Street and vice versa.
The alternative route for traffic unable to negotiate Westgate Towers is via B2248 Station Road West, St Stephen’s Road, Kingsmead Road, A28 Tourtel Road, Military Road, Broad Street, Lower Bridge Street, Upper Bridge Street, Rhodaus Town, Pin Hill, A2050 Rheims Way, London Road and vice versa.
Pedestrian access will be maintained during the works.
Bullockstone Road, Herne Bay, CT6 7NR (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER MAY 2025
To allow gas works to be carried out, Kent County Council has made an Order prohibiting through traffic on part of Bullockstone Road, Herne Bay, from 26th May 2025, with estimated completion by 29th June 2025, or until the works have been completed.
The road will be closed between the junction with Fairway and number 14, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.
The alternative route for any through traffic is via Bullockstone Road, Greenhill Road, A2990 Thanet Way, A291 Canterbury Road, Herne Street, Canterbury Road, Bullockstone Road and vice versa.
There is no alternative route for Randall Way and The Fairway, however, residential and emergency access will be maintained at all times when it is safe to do so.
Pedestrian access will be maintained during the works.
Chartham Downs Road, Chartham, CT4 7TW (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER JUNE 2025
To allow pole testing works to be carried out, Kent County Council intends to make an Order prohibiting through traffic on part of Chartham Downs Road, Chartham, from 11th June 2025, for up to one day, between the hours of 09:30 and 15:30, or until the works have been completed.
The road will be closed from the junction with Linden Road, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.
The alternative route for any through traffic is via Chartham Downs Road, B2068 Street End, Faussett Hill, Nackington Road, Old Dover Road, A28 Rhodaus Town, Pin Hill, Wincheap, Thanington Road, Ashford Road, Milton Manor Road, Cockering Road and vice versa.
Pedestrian access will be maintained during the works.
Cherry Gardens, Herne Bay, CT6 5QZ (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER MAY 2025
To allow reinstatement works to be carried out, Kent County Council has made an Order prohibiting through traffic on part of Cherry Gardens, Herne Bay, from 27th May 2025, with estimated completion by 28th May 2025, beween the hours of 08:00 and 18:00, or until the works have been completed.
The road will be closed between numbers 36A and 77, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.
There is no alternative route for this closure, however, residential and emergency access will be maintained at all times when it is safe to do so.
Pedestrian access will be maintained during the works.
Ford Hill, Hoath, CT3 4LS (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER MAY 2025
To allow interim utility works to be carried out, Kent County Council has made an Order prohibiting through traffic on part of Ford Hill, Hoath, from 29th May 2025, with estimated completion by 30th May 2025, or until the works have been completed.
The road will be closed outside 3 Ford Cottages, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.
The alternative route for any through traffic is via Highstead, Boyden Gate Hill, Church Lane, Sandpit Hill, Nethergong Hill, The Glen, A28 Island Road, Staines Hill, Babs Oak Hill, Hoath Road, Maypole Road, Ford Hill and vice versa.
Pedestrian access will be maintained during the works.
Island Wall, Whitstable, CT5 1AW (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER JUNE 2025
To allow ducting works to be carried out, Kent County Council intends to make an Order prohibiting through traffic on part of Island Wall, Whitstable, from 10th June 2025, with estimated completion by 11th June 2025, between the hours of 09:00 and 17:00, or until the works have been completed.
The road will be closed from the junction with Waterloo Road, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.
The alternative route for any through traffic is via Island Wall, Waterloo Road, Middle Wall, Island Wall and vice versa.
Pedestrian access will be maintained during the works.
North Stream, Marshside, CT3 4EJ (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER JUNE 2025
To allow pole testing works to be carried out, Kent County Council intends to make an Order prohibiting through traffic on part of North Stream, Marshside, from 11th June 2025, for up to one day, between the hours of 09:30 and 15:30, or until the works have been completed.
The road will be closed from the junction with Reynolds Lane, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.
The alternative route for any through traffic Northbound is via via Chapel Lane, Highstead, Ford Hill, Heart In Hand Road, Maystreet, Sweechbridge Road, A299 Thanet Way, Brook Lane and North Stream.
The alternative route for any through traffic Southbound is via North Stream, A299 Thanet Way, Heart In Hand Road, Ford Hill, Highstead and Chapel Lane.
Pedestrian access will be maintained during the works.
Osbourne Gardens & Terminus Drive, Herne Bay. (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER JUNE 2025
To allow installation works to be carried out, Kent County Council intends to make an Order prohibiting through traffic on part of Osbourne Gardens & Terminus Drive, Herne Bay, from 9th June 2025, with estimated completion by 4th August 2025, or until the works have been completed.
The roads will be closed at the junctions where they meet, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.
The alternative route for Osbourne Gardens is via Osborne Gardens, Lancaster Gardens, Reculver Road and vice versa.
The alternative route for Terminus Drive is via Terminus Drive, Reculver Road, Osbourne Gardens and vice versa.
Pedestrian access will be maintained during the works.
Saxon Shore Half Marathon 2025 (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER JUNE 2025
To allow the Saxon Shore Half Marathon 2025 event to be held, Kent County Council intends to make an Order prohibiting through traffic on Beach Walk and Tower Hill, Whitstable, from 15th June 2025, for up to one day, between the hours of 09:20 and 13:30, or until the event is complete.
The roads will be closed in their entirety, to the extent indicated by signs and frames on site. They will be re-opened as soon as it is safe to do so.
The alternative route for any through traffic is via B2205 Tankerton Road.
Pedestrian access will be maintained during the event.
Station Road, Herne Bay, CT6 5QS (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER MAY 2025
To allow excavation works to be carried out, Kent County Council has made an Order prohibiting through traffic on part of Station Road, Herne Bay, from 26th May 2025, with estimated completion by 2nd June 2025, between the hours of 08:00 and 18:00, or until the works have been completed.
The road will be closed between numbers 66 and 76, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.
The alternative route for any through traffic is via Western Avenue, B2205 Sea Street, Fleetwood Avenue, The Circus (access only) and vice versa.
Pedestrian access will be maintained during the works.
Sweechbridge Road, Herne Bay, CT6 6TQ (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER JUNE 2025
To allow pole testing works to be carried out, Kent County Council intends to make an Order prohibiting through traffic on part of Sweechbridge Road, Herne Bay, from 12th June 2025, for up to one day, between the hours of 09:30 and 15:30, or until the works have been completed.
The road will be closed from the junction with Reculver Road, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.
The alternative route for any through traffic is via Sweechbridge Road, Reculver Road, Mickleburgh Hill, Margate Road, Margate Road Interchange, Margate Road, Heart In Hand Road and vice versa.
Pedestrian access will be maintained during the works.
