York, Multiple Traffic Notices, Temporary Road Closures due to Maintenance and Infrastructure Works

What is happening?

TEMPORARY TRAFFIC RESTRICTIONS

Notice is hereby given that City of York Council (the Council), in exercise of powers under Sections 14(1) & 15(8) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 (the Act), made an order on Thursday, 15 May 2025 in respect of the locations numbered (1), (2), (3), (4), (5), (6), (7), (8), (9) & (10). Furthermore, the Council, not less than 7 days from the publication of this Notice, intends to make an Order under Section 14(1) of the Act in respect of the locations numbered (11), (12), (13), (14), (15), (16), (17), (18) & (19).

(1) LINLEY AVENUE, HAXBY

This Order prohibits vehicles from proceeding and waiting in that length of road on Linley Avenue, Haxby between its junction with Station Road and a location 115 metres south-east of said junction (closed road) during the period when gas mains works are being undertaken thereon, commencing at 0830hrs on Friday, 16 May 2025 and ending at 1600hrs on Friday, 06 June 2025 (works period) or at a time when the works have been completed whichever is the earlier. This is to ensure that the said works can be carried out safely. It is envisaged that the road will only be closed between 0830hrs and 1600hrs each day of the works period. An alternative route for diverted vehicles will be not signed during the works period.

(2) FISHERGATE, YORK

This Order prohibits vehicles from proceeding and waiting in that length of carriageway on Fishergate, York between its junction with Blue Bridge Lane and a location 65 metres north of said junction (closed road) during the period when footway maintenance works are being undertaken thereon, commencing at 1900hrs on Monday, 19 May 2025 and ending at 2300hrs on Monday, 19 May 2025 (works period) or at a time when the works have been completed whichever is the earlier. This is to ensure that the said works can be carried out safely. An alternative route for diverted vehicles will be signed during the works period via Cemetery Road, Barbican Road, Paragon Street, Fawcett Street.

(3) TANNER ROW, YORK

This Order prohibits vehicles from proceeding and waiting in that length of road on Tanner Row, York between its junctions with Rougier Street and North Street (closed road) during the period when survey works are being undertaken thereon, commencing at 0800hrs on Monday, 19 May 2025 and ending at 1700hrs on Monday, 19 May 2025 (works period) or at a time when the works have been completed whichever is the earlier. This is to ensure that the said works can be carried out safely. An alternative route for diverted vehicles will be signed during the works period via George Hudson Street, Micklegate, North Street.

(4) NEW LANE, HUNTINGTON

This Order prohibits vehicles from proceeding and waiting in that length of road on New Lane, Huntington between its junctions with Hambleton Way and Brecks Lane (closed road) during the period when highway maintenance works are being undertaken thereon, commencing at 0930hrs on Monday, 19 May 2025 and ending at 1500hrs on Tuesday, 20 May 2025 (works period) or at a time when the works have been completed whichever is the earlier. This is to ensure that the said works can be carried out safely. It is envisaged that the road will only be closed between 0930hrs and 1500hrs each day of the works period. An alternative route for diverted vehicles will be signed during the works period via Huntington Road, Heworth Green, Malton Road.

(5) CHAPELFIELDS ROAD, YORK

This Order prohibits vehicles from proceeding and waiting in that length of road on Chapelfields Road, York between its junction with Marston Avenue and the projected eastern boundary of property no. 178 (closed road) during the period when highway works are being undertaken thereon, commencing at 0800hrs on Monday, 19 May 2025 and ending at 1800hrs on Friday, 23 May 2025 (works period) or at a time when the works have been completed whichever is the earlier. This is to ensure that the said works can be carried out safely. An alternative route for diverted vehicles will be signed during the works period via Marston Avenue, Bramham Avenue, Ridgeway.

(6) PRIORY WOOD WAY & HAWTHORN SPINNEY, YORK

This Order prohibits vehicles from proceeding and waiting in those lengths of road on Priory Wood Way & Hawthorn Spinney, York (i) on Priory Wood Way between its junctions with New Lane and Doriam Avenue and (ii) on Hawthorn Spinney between its junction with Doriam Avenue and a location 215 metres north-west of said junction (closed roads) during the period when highway maintenance works are being undertaken thereon, commencing at 0800hrs on Monday, 19 May 2025 and ending at 1700hrs on Friday, 23 May 2025 (works period) or at a time when the works have been completed whichever is the earlier. This is to ensure that the said works can be carried out safely. It is envisaged that the roads will only be closed between 0800hrs and 1700hrs each day of the works period. Access for residents & emergency vehicles will be maintained. An alternative route for diverted vehicles will be signed during the works period via Doriam Avenue, Doriam Drive, Kestrel Wood Way, Brockfield Park Drive, New Lane.

(7) BAR LANE, YORK

This Order prohibits vehicles from proceeding and waiting in that length of road on Bar Lane, York between its junctions with Micklegate and Toft Green (closed road) during the period when power grid works are being undertaken thereon, commencing at 0001hrs on Monday, 19 May 2025 and ending at 2359hrs on Friday, 06 June 2025 (works period) or at a time when the works have been completed whichever is the earlier. This is to ensure that the said works can be carried out safely. An alternative route for diverted vehicles will be signed during the works period via Toft Green, George Hudson Street, Micklegate.

(8) MILLFIELD LANE, POPPLETON

This Order prohibits vehicles from proceeding and waiting in that length of road on Millfield Lane, Poppleton between its junction with Millfield Lane To Roundabout and a location 80 metres north-west of said junction (closed road) during the period when bridge survey works are being undertaken thereon, commencing at 1000hrs on Tuesday, 20 May 2025 and ending at 1400hrs on Tuesday, 20 May 2025 (works period) or at a time when the works have been completed whichever is the earlier. This is to ensure that the said works can be carried out safely. An alternative route for diverted vehicles will be signed during the works period via A1237 York Outer Ring Road, A59, Station Road, Long Ridge Lane.

(9) KINGS COURT & KINGS SQUARE, YORK

This Order prohibits vehicles from proceeding and waiting in those lengths of road on Kings Court & Kings Square, York (i) on Kings Court between its junctions with Shambles and Kings Square and (ii) on Kings Square between its junction with Kings Court and a location 17 metres north of said junction (closed roads) during the period when water network works are being undertaken thereon, commencing at 1030hrs on Thursday, 22 May 2025 and ending at 1700hrs on Thursday, 22 May 2025 (works period) or at a time when the works have been completed whichever is the earlier. This is to ensure that the said works can be carried out safely. Additionally, the ‘ONE WAY’ direction of travel in Newgate is suspended during the period of physical closure to allow two-way traffic flow in the said road when the closure is put into effect. An alternative route for diverted vehicles will be signed during the works period via Newgate, Silver Street, Church Street.

(10) HIGH OUSEGATE, YORK

This Order prohibits vehicles from proceeding and waiting in that length of road on High Ousegate, York between its junction with Parliament Street and the projected south-western boundary of property no. 11 (closed road) during the period when water works are being undertaken thereon, commencing at 0800hrs on Thursday, 22 May 2025 and ending at 1800hrs on Thursday, 22 May 2025 (works period) or at a time when the works have been completed whichever is the earlier. This is to ensure that the said works can be carried out safely. An alternative route for diverted vehicles will be signed during the works period via Piccadilly, Tower Street, Fawcett Street, Fishergate, Clifford Street, Bridge Street, George Hudson Street, Rougier Street.

(11) QUEEN STREET, YORK

This Order will prohibit vehicles & pedestrians from proceeding and waiting in that length of road on Queen Street, York between its junctions with Station Road and a location 65 metres north-west of its junction with Blossom Street (closed road) during the period when station gateway works are being undertaken thereon, commencing at 1930hrs on Saturday, 24 May 2025 and ending at 0500hrs on Tuesday, 27 May 2025 (works period) or at a time when the works have been completed whichever is the earlier. This is to ensure that the said works can be carried out safely. An alternative route for diverted vehicles will be signed during the works period via York Inner Ring Road. Pedestrian and cycle diversions will also be put in place.

(12) ALNESS DRIVE, YORK

This Order will prohibit vehicles from proceeding and waiting in that length of road on Alness Drive, York between its junctions with Nevis Way and Girvan Close (closed road) during the period when highway maintenance works are being undertaken thereon, commencing at 0930hrs on Tuesday, 27 May 2025 and ending at 1600hrs on Tuesday, 27 May 2025 (works period) or at a time when the works have been completed whichever is the earlier. This is to ensure that the said works can be carried out safely. An alternative route for diverted vehicles will be signed during the works period via Moor Lane, Askham Lane, Foxwood Lane, Bellhouse Way, Acomb Wood drive.

(13) FOOTPATH BRIDGE LANE FROM WIGGINTON ROAD TO FOOT BRIDGE, YORK

This Order will prohibit vehicles & pedestrians from proceeding and waiting in that length of road on Footpath Bridge Lane From Wigginton Road To Foot Bridge, York between its junctions with Scarborough Terrace and Wigginton Road (closed footpath) during the period when footway maintenance works are being undertaken thereon, commencing at 1830hrs on Tuesday, 27 May 2025 and ending at 2359hrs on Wednesday, 28 May 2025 (works period) or at a time when the works have been completed whichever is the earlier. This is to ensure that the said works can be carried out safely. It is envisaged that the footpath will only be closed between 1830hrs and 2359hrs each night of the works period. An alternative route for diverted vehicles and pedestrians will be signed during the works period via Clarence Street, Gillygate, Bootham, Grosvenor Terrace.

(14) WHITESTONE DRIVE, DORIAM DRIVE & KESTRAL WOOD WAY, YORK

This Order will prohibit vehicles from proceeding and waiting in those lengths of road on Whitestone Drive, Doriam Drive & Kestral Wood Way, York (i) on Whitestone Drive between its junctions with Huntington Road and Doriam Drive and (ii) on Doriam Drive between its junction with Whitestone Drive and a location 230 metres east of said junction and (iii) on Kestral Wood Way between its junctions with Doriam Drive and Brockfield Park Drive (closed roads) during the period when highway maintenance works are being undertaken thereon, commencing at 0800hrs on Tuesday, 27 May 2025 and ending at 1700hrs on Friday, 30 May 2025 (works period) or at a time when the works have been completed whichever is the earlier. This is to ensure that the said works can be carried out safely. It is envisaged that the roads will only be closed between 0800hrs and 1700hrs each day during the works period. An alternative route for diverted vehicles will be signed during the works period via Huntington Road, Brockfield Drive, Brockfield Park Drive, New Lane, Priory Wood Way.

(15) ST. THOMAS CLOSE, YORK

This Order will prohibit vehicles from proceeding and waiting in that length of road on St. Thomas Close, York between its junction with Thirkleby Way and a location 53 metres south-west of said junction (closed road) during the period when power grid works are being undertaken thereon, commencing at 0800hrs on Tuesday, 27 May 2025 and ending at 1730hrs on Monday, 09 June 2025 (works period) or at a time when the works have been completed whichever is the earlier. This is to ensure that the said works can be carried out safely. It is envisaged that the road will only be closed between 0800hrs and 1730hrs each day of the works period. Access for residents and emergency vehicles will be maintained.

(16) HAXBY MOOR ROAD, STRENSALL

This Order will prohibit vehicles from proceeding and waiting in that length of road on Haxby Moor Road, Strensall between locations 70 metres and 100 metres north-west of the junction with Leyfield Close (closed road) during the period when survey works are being undertaken thereon, commencing at 0900hrs on Wednesday, 28 May 2025 and ending at 1600hrs on Thursday, 29 May 2025 (works period) or at a time when the works have been completed whichever is the earlier. This is to ensure that the said works can be carried out safely. It is envisaged that the road will only be closed between 0900hrs and 1600hrs each day during the works period. An alternative route for diverted vehicles will be signed during the works period via York Road, Flaxton Road, Towthorpe Road, Station Road, Usher Lane.

(17) MOOR LANE & NABURN LANE, NABURN

This Order will prohibit vehicles from proceeding and waiting in those lengths of road on Moor Lane & Naburn Lane, Naburn (i) on Moor Lane between its junctions with B1222 – York Road and Naburn Lane and (ii) on Naburn Lane between its junctions with Moor Lane and A19 – York Road (closed roads) during the period when highway maintenance works are being undertaken thereon, commencing at 0830hrs on Wednesday, 28 May 2025 and ending at 1600hrs on Thursday, 29 May 2025 (works period) or at a time when the works have been completed whichever is the earlier. This is to ensure that the said works can be carried out safely. It is envisaged that the roads will only be closed between 0830hrs and 1600hrs each day of the works period. Access for residents and businesses will be maintained throughout the works. An alternative route for diverted vehicles will be signed during the works period via A19, B1222.

(18) BAD BARGAIN LANE, YORK

This Order will prohibit vehicles from proceeding and waiting in that length of road on Bad Bargain Lane, York between its junctions with Bramley Garth and the entrance drive to The Cottage property (closed road) during the period when telecoms works are being undertaken thereon, commencing at 0800hrs on Wednesday, 28 May 2025 and ending at 1800hrs on Friday, 30 May 2025 (works period) or at a time when the works have been completed whichever is the earlier. This is to ensure that the said works can be carried out safely. It is envisaged that the road will only be closed between 0800hrs and 1800hrs each day of the works period.

(19) WATER END & BOROUGHBRIDGE ROAD, YORK

This Order will prohibit vehicles from proceeding and waiting in those lengths of road on Water End & Boroughbridge Road, York (i) on Water End between its junction with Boroughbridge Road and a location 388 metres north-east of said junction and (ii) on Boroughbridge Road between its junction with Lavender Grove and the projected south-eastern boundary of property no. 7 (closed roads) during the period when abnormal load works are being undertaken thereon, commencing at 0500hrs on Wednesday, 28 May 2025 and ending at 0600hrs on Friday, 22 August 2025 (works period) or at a time when the works have been completed whichever is the earlier. This is to ensure that the said works can be carried out safely. It is envisaged that the road will only be closed for a maximum of 15 minutes each night of the works period between 0500hrs and 0600hrs. An alternative route for diverted vehicles will not be signed during the works period.

The above temporary Orders will not prohibit works or emergency access nor will they prohibit access to premises provided that access is not prevented by on-going works or safety concerns. Traffic signs/barriers will indicate the extent of the prohibitions/restrictions.
