What is happening?

LANCASHIRE COUNTY COUNCIL

ENFIELD ROAD, ACCRINGTON, HYNDBURN BOROUGH
(TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF THROUGH TRAFFIC) ORDER 2024)

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that Lancashire County Council intend to make an Order under Section 14(1) (a) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended, the effect of which will be to temporarily prohibit traffic on the roads set out in this notice.

1. No person shall cause any motor vehicle to proceed over that length of Enfield Road, Accrington for 20 metres either side of the Level Crossing.

2. Nothing in this order shall apply to persons engaged in the carrying out of the works.

3. The prohibition will be operative from 2330 hours on Saturday 7th June 2025 to 0830 hours on Sunday 8th June 2025 or until completion of the works within this period.

4. Vehicular access will be maintained whenever and wherever possible. Pedestrian access to properties will always be maintained.

5. An alternative route for vehicular traffic affected by the closure is via:- DIVERSION FOR VEHICLES UNDER 14’3’’

Enfield Rd - Station Rd - Lower Gate Rd - Towneley Ave – Higher Gate Rd - Burnley Road – Kingsway – Bolton Avenue – Whinney Hill Road – Enfield Road.

DIVERSION FOR VEHICLE OVER 14’3’’

Lower Gate Rd - Towneley Ave - Higher Gate Rd - Burnley Rd - Kingsway - Penny House Lane - Robert St – Whalley Road – Lime Road

The temporary prohibition is necessary to allow rail inspection works undertaken by Centurion Site Services on behalf of Network Rail.
