What is happening?

Notice is given that the Council of the City of Peterborough has made an Order pursuant to section 14(1)(a) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984:

The City of Peterborough Temporary Prohibition of

Through Traffic Order 2025 – Newark Road, Fengate,

Peterborough                              Ref: 26-016

The effect of which is to stop any vehicle from proceeding along the road known as Newark Road, Fengate, as lies between Vicarage Farm Road and Empson Road. The Council is satisfied that traffic should be prohibited due to proposed works being executed on the above road. The alternative route for vehicles affected by this order is via: Palmers Road, Edgerley Drain Road, Vicarage Farm Road and vice versa. The proposed order will come into force on the 17/05/2025 and will continue until the new electrical connection works have been completed or until the 16/05/2026, whichever is the earlier. Closure dates will be confirmed locally on site. It is anticipated that the works will take place between 07:00hrs on the 17/05/2025 to 06:00hrs on the 19/05/2025.

The City of Peterborough Temporary Prohibition of

Through Traffic Order – footpaths around Eyrescroft, Barnstock, Benland and Bretton Way 2025           Ref: 26-025

The effect of which is to stop any pedestrian or cyclist from proceeding along the footpath/cycle path known as footpaths around Eyrescroft, Barnstock, Benland and Bretton Way, outside 115 Barnstock. The Council is satisfied that pedestrians and cyclists should be prohibited due to works being proposed to be executed on the above footpath/cycle path. The alternative route for pedestrians and cyclists affected by this Order is: footpaths around 64 Benland, 59 Benland, 150 Barnstock, 147 Barnstock, 114 Barnstock and vice versa. The Order will come into operation on the 19/05/2025 and will continue until the meter exchange works have been completed or until the 18/11/2025, whichever is the earlier. The City of Peterborough Temporary Prohibition of Through Traffic Order 2025 – King Street, Lolham, 

Maxey                                         Ref: 26-026

The effect of which is to stop any vehicle from proceeding along the road known as King Street, Lolham, Maxey as lies between points 20 metres either side of Bainton Green Level Crossing. The Council is satisfied that traffic should be prohibited due to proposed works being executed on the above road. The alternative route for vehicles affected by this order is: via B1443 King St, West St, Glinton Rd, Helpston Rd, A15, Maxey Rd, High St and vice versa..The proposed Order will come into force on the 21/05/2025 and will continue until the railway level crossing maintenance works have been completed or until the 20/05/2026, whichever is the earlier. Closure dates will be confirmed locally on site. It is anticipated that the works will take place between 23:00 and 04:55, from 21/05/2025 to 23/05/2025. Notice is given that the Council of the City of Peterborough intends in not less than seven days to make an Order pursuant to section 14(1)(a) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984:

The City of Peterborough Temporary Prohibition of

Through Traffic Order 2025 – Williamson Avenue, 

West Town, Peterborough          Ref: 26-029

The effect of which is to stop any vehicle from proceeding along the road known as Williamson Avenue, West Town, as lies between Aldermans Drive and Midland Road. The Council is satisfied that traffic should be prohibited due to proposed works being executed on the above road. The alternative route for vehicles affected by this order is via: Midland Road, Mayors Walk, Aldermans Drive and vice versa. The proposed order will come into force on the 28/05/2025 and will continue until the water mains works have been completed or until the 27/05/2026, whichever is the earlier. The City of Peterborough Temporary Prohibition  of Through Traffic Order 2025 – Waterhouse Way,

Hampton, Peterborough             Ref: 26-017

The effect of which is to stop any vehicle from proceeding along the road known as Waterhouse Way, Hampton, detailed in the schedule below:

The Council is satisfied that traffic should be prohibited due to proposed works being executed on the above road. The alternative routes for vehicles affected by this order are detailed in the above schedule. The proposed order will come into force on the 27/05/2025 and will continue until the S278 Surfacing works have been completed or until the 26/05/2026, whichever is the earlier. The effect of which is to stop any vehicle from proceeding along the roads known as Fletton Parkway Roundabout 1 Eastbound On Slip and Fletton Parkway Roundabout 2 Eastbound Off Slip, as detailed in the schedule below:

Access will be maintained to properties affected by this Notice.

The Council is satisfied that traffic should be prohibited due to proposed works being executed on the above road.

The alternative routes for vehicles affected by this order are detailed in the above schedule.

This notice is made in the interest of cut and patch works and will remain effective for no more than 5 days from the 19/05/2025.

The Notice shall not apply to any persons lawfully engaged in connection with any works for which it is made, any member of the Police Force, Fire and Rescue Service, Ambulance Service, a vehicle being used by Special Forces during the execution of their duties or any person acting with permission or upon the direction of a police Officer in uniform.
