Westham / Eastbourne / Seaford / Exceat / East Dean - Temporary Speed Limits & Traffic Prohibition Orders
What is happening?
EAST SUSSEX COUNTY COUNCIL
ROAD TRAFFIC REGULATION ACT 1984
The East Sussex (A22 Golden Jubilee Way, Westham/Eastbourne)
(Temporary 40 mph Speed Limit) Order 2025
To allow East Sussex Highways to carry out works, East Sussex County intend not less than seven days from the date of this notice to make an Order under Sections 14(1) and 15(1)(b) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended, which will temporarily restrict all traffic using the following length of road to a speed not exceeding 40 mph:
Temporary 40 mph Speed Limit
Golden Jubilee Way – from the junction with A27 Dittons Road roundabout to the junction with A22 Shinewater roundabout.
The Order commences 5 June 2025 and lasts for a period of 18 months, or until the works are completed, whichever is the earlier. However, it is anticipated the speed restriction will be in place between 5 June and 25 July 2025.

The East Sussex (U2128 Gorringe Road, Eastbourne)
(Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2025
To allow SGN to carry out works, East Sussex County Council intend not less than seven days from the date of this notice to make an Order under Sections 14(1) and 15(1)(b) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended, which will temporarily close the following length of road;
Temporary Road Closure
Gorringe Road – from the junction with U2128 Tutts Barn Lane to the junction with A2021 Bedfordwell Road.
A safe route will be provided for pedestrians and vehicular access for residents and to properties maintained whenever possible with an alternative route for through traffic via A2021 Bedfordwell Road, Lewes Road – U2128 Tutts Barn Lane and vice versa.
The Order commences 2 June 2025 and lasts for a period of 18 months, or until works are completed, whichever is earlier. However, it is anticipated works will be undertaken between 2 June and 11 July 2025 depending upon the weather conditions.

The East Sussex (U2380 Barrier Reef Way, Eastbourne)
(Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2025
To allow UKPN to carry out works, East Sussex County Council have made an Order under Sections 14(1) and 15(1)(b) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended, which will temporarily close the following length of road;
Temporary Road Closure
Barrier Reef Way – from the junction with U2379 Pacific Drive to No.21.
A safe route will be provided for pedestrians and vehicular access for residents and to properties maintained whenever possible.
The Order commences 19 May 2025 and lasts for a period of 18 months, or until works are completed, whichever is earlier. However, it is anticipated works will be undertaken between 19 and 23 May 2025 depending upon the weather conditions.

The East Sussex (A259 Eastbourne Road/East Dean Road, Seaford/Exceat/East Dean/Eastbourne)
(Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2025
To allow East Sussex Highways to carry out works, East Sussex County Council have made an Order under Sections 14(1) and 15(1)(b) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended, which will temporarily close the following lengths of road;
Temporary Road Closures
Eastbourne Road – from the junction with P5646 Chyngton Lane North to the junction with C120 Litlington Road.
East Dean Road – from the junction with C120 Litlington Road eastwards for 1200 metres.
Eastbourne Road/East Dean Road – from the junction with C37 Gilberts Drive to the junction with B2103 Warren Hill Road.
A safe route will be provided for pedestrians and vehicular access for residents and to properties maintained whenever possible with an alternative route for through traffic via A259 East Dean Road, Church Street, High Street, The Goffs – A2270 Upperton Road, Willingdon Road, Crossways roundabout, Willingdon Road, Eastbourne Road – A27(T) Eastbourne Road, Lewes Road, Drusillas roundabout, Lewes Road, Eastbourne Road – A27 Beddingham roundabout – A26(T) Newhaven Road, Beddingham Road, New Road – A26 New Road – A259 Drove Road, B&Q roundabout, The Drove, Denton roundabout, Seaford Road, Newhaven Road, Buckle bypass, Claremont Road, Station Approach, Clinton Place, Sutton Park Road, Sutton Road, Eastbourne Road and vice versa.
The Order commences 19 May 2025 and lasts for a period of 18 months, or until works are completed, whichever is earlier. However, it is anticipated works will be undertaken between 19 and 30 May 2025 depending upon the weather conditions.
