The East Sussex (Public Footpath Seaford 23c, Seaford 23d (part), Seaford 26a (part), Seaford 26b)

(Temporary Footpath Closure) Order 2025

To protect public safety as a result of coastal erosion, East Sussex County Council have made an Order under Sections 14(1) and 15(1)(a) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended, which will temporarily close the following footpaths:

Temporary Footpath Closure

The whole of Public Footpath Seaford 23c will be closed to all users between TV 5135 9765 and TV 5147 9770.

Part of Public Footpath Seaford 23d will be closed to all users between TV 5147 9770 and TV 5147 9772 for a distance of 20 metres.

Part of Public Footpath Seaford 26a will be closed to all users between TV 5146 9772 and TV 5147 9770 for a distance of 16 metres.

The whole of Public Footpath Seaford 26b will be closed to all users between TV 5147 9770 and TV 5148 9767.

An alternative route will be available by using the England Coast Path.

The closure will be in force for 6 months from 19 May 2025, or until the footpaths are safe again, whichever is the earlier, which after this period will require an extension from the Secretary of State, should the footpaths still be unavailable to use.

WILDLIFE AND COUNTRYSIDE ACT 1981

THE EAST SUSSEX COUNTY COUNCIL (WEALDEN DISTRICT)

DEFINITIVE MAP AND STATEMENT THE EAST SUSSEX COUNTY COUNCIL (PUBLIC BRIDLEWAY LONG MAN 47, PUBLIC FOOTPATH LONG MAN 48) DEFINITIVE MAP MODIFICATION ORDER 2025

The above Order, made on 9 May 2025, if confirmed as made, will modify the Definitive Map and Statement for the area by adding a public bridleway and a public footpath as follows:

A public bridleway with an arbitrary centreline route as shown on the Order Plan between points H-I. The bridleway commences from a point on Folkington Lane at the edge of the adopted Highway Extent, at the entrance drive to the south of Folkington Manor, at point H at TQ 5598 0392 with a width of 3 metres.

The bridleway continues in a north-easterly direction for 145 metres through electric vehicle gates, across the driveway, over a low stone wall with a series of 5 stone steps at TQ 5599 0392 and continuing through wooded gardens with a width of 3 metres until it reaches a point at TQ 5610 0399, after which the bridleway continues in the same north-easterly direction for a further 25 metres on a downward gradient with a width of 2 metres until it reaches point I at TQ 5613 0401. The width at I is 2 metres.

A public footpath with an arbitrary centreline route as shown on the Order Plan between points I-C-D. The footpath commences at point I at TQ 5613 0401. The footpath continues in a north northeasterly direction for 87 metres across a lawn with a width of 2 metres until it reaches a gravel driveway at point C at TQ 5618 0408. The width at point C is 2 metres. From point C the footpath continues in an easterly direction for 100 metres across a lawn with a width of 2 metres until it reaches a fence line at TQ 5628 0407. The footpath continues for a further 300 metres in the same easterly direction across a field with a width of 2 metres until it reaches a field gate on the edge of the adopted Highway Extent of Folkington Lane, at point D at TQ 5658 0405. The width at D is 2 metres.

The total length of the public bridleway to be added is 170 metres. The total length of the public footpath to be added is 487 metres.

Applicants are requested to state the grounds on which it is made.

If no representations or objections are duly made to the Order, or if any so made are withdrawn, the East Sussex County Council, instead of submitting the Order to the Secretary of State may itself confirm the Order. If the Order is submitted to the Secretary of State for the Environment, Food and Rural Affairs, any representations or objections which have been duly made and not withdrawn will be sent with it.

The East Sussex (B2192 The Broyle, Ringmer)

(Temporary 30 mph Speed Limit) Order 2025

To allow East Sussex Highways to carry out works, East Sussex County Council intend not less than seven days from the date of this notice to make an Order under Sections 14(1) and 15(1)(b) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended, which will temporarily restrict all traffic using the following length of road to a speed not exceeding 30 mph:

Temporary 30 mph Speed Limit

The Broyle – from the junction with B2124 Laughton Road to the junction with the C326 Shortgate Lane. The Order commences 2 June 2025 and lasts for a period of 18 months, or until the works are completed, whichever is the earlier. However, it is anticipated the speed restriction will be in place on 2 and 3 June 2025 depending upon the weather conditions.

(Temporary 40 mph Speed Limit) Order 2025

To allow East Sussex Highways to carry out works, East Sussex County intend not less than seven days from the date of this notice to make an Order under Sections 14(1) and 15(1)(b) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended, which will temporarily restrict all traffic using the following length of road to a speed not exceeding 40 mph:

Temporary 40 mph Speed Limit

Boship Roundabout/Hailsham Bypass/Diplocks Roundabout/ Hailsham Bypass/Arlington Eagles Roundabout/Polegate Road/ Hailsham Road – from the junction with A22 Boship roundabout to the junction with A27 Cophall roundabout. The Order commences 5 June 2025 and lasts for a period of 18 months, or until the works are completed, whichever is the earlier. However, it is anticipated the speed restriction will be in place between 5 June and 25 July 2025.

To allow South East Water to carry out works, East Sussex County Council intend not less than seven days from the date of this notice to make an Order under Sections 14(1) and 15(1)(b) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended, which will temporarily close the following length of road;

Hanging Birch Lane – from the junction with U7038 Sandy Lane to the junction with U7671 Bray Hill Lane.

To allow East Sussex Highways to carry out works, East Sussex County Council intend not less than seven days from the date of this notice to make an Order under Sections 14(1) and 15(1)(b) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended, which will temporarily close the following length of road;

Half Mile Drove – from the junction with B2192 The Broyle to the junction with B2124 Laughton Road.

A safe route will be provided for pedestrians and vehicular access for residents and to properties maintained whenever possible with an alternative route for through traffic via B2192 The Broyle – B2124 Laughton Road and vice versa. The Order commences 2 June 2025 and lasts for a period of 18 months, or until works are completed, whichever is earlier. To allow BT Openreach to carry out works, East Sussex County Council intend not less than seven days from the date of this notice to make an Order under Sections 14(1) and 15(1)(b) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended, which will temporarily close the following length of road;

Treblers Road – from the junction with U7768 Tubwell Lane to the junction with C209 Castle Hill.

The Order commences 2 June 2025 and lasts for a period of 18 months, or until works are completed, whichever is earlier. The East Sussex (A259 Station Approach, Newhaven)

(Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2025

To allow Network Rail to carry out works, East Sussex County Council intend not less than seven days from the date of this notice to make an Order under Sections 14(1) and 15(1)(b) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended, which will temporarily close the following length of road;

Temporary Road Closure

Station Approach – 20 metres either side of the level crossing.

A safe route will be provided for pedestrians and vehicular access for residents and to properties maintained whenever possible with an alternative route for through traffic westbound via A26 New Road – A259 The Drove Slip Road, The Drove, B&Q roundabout, The Drove, South Way, Lewes Road, North Way, The Drove, North Quay & eastbound via A259 Drove Road, B&Q roundabout, The Drove, South Way, Lewes Road, North Way, The Drove, The Drove Slip Road – A26 New Road.

The Order commences 4 June 2025 and lasts for a period of 18 months, or until works are completed, whichever is earlier. However, it is anticipated works will be undertaken from 23:45hrs to 04:30hrs on 4 and 5 June 2025 depending upon the weather conditions.

(Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2025 No.2

To allow BT Openreach to carry out works, East Sussex County Council intend not less than seven days from the date of this notice to make an Order under Sections 14(1) and 15(1)(b) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended, which will temporarily close the following length of road;

Temporary Road Closure

Foul Mile – from the junction with C15 Cowbeech Road to the junction with C15 Cowbeech Road.

The Order commences 1 June 2025 and lasts for a period of 18 months, or until works are completed, whichever is earlier. However, it is anticipated works will be undertaken from 06:00hrs to 12:00hrs on 1 June 2025 depending upon the weather conditions.

The Order commences 22 May 2025 and lasts for a period of 18 months, or until works are completed, whichever is earlier. However, it is anticipated works will be undertaken from 09:30hrs to 15:30hrs on 22 May 2025 depending upon the weather conditions.

To allow Openreach to carry out works, East Sussex County Council have made an Order under Sections 14(1) and 15(1)(b) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended, which will temporarily close the following length of road;

Oxbottom Lane – from the junction with A272 Station Road to the junction with C651 Cinder Hill.

A safe route will be provided for pedestrians and vehicular access for residents and to properties maintained whenever possible with an alternative route for through traffic via A272 Station Road – A275 East Grinstead Road, Chailey Green Road – C651 Cinder Hill and vice versa.

The Order commences 22 May 2025 and lasts for a period of 18 months, or until works are completed, whichever is earlier. The Order commences 21 May 2025 and lasts for a period of 18 months, or until works are completed, whichever is earlier. The Order commences 19 May 2025 and lasts for a period of 18 months, or until works are completed, whichever is earlier. To allow BT Openreach to carry out works, East Sussex County Council have made an Order under Sections 14(1) and 15(1)(b) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended, which will temporarily close the following length of road;

Blackdown Lane – from the junction with U7910 Forest Lane to the junction with B2096 Battle Road.

A safe route will be provided for pedestrians and vehicular access for residents and to properties maintained whenever possible with an alternative route for through traffic via U7910 Forest Lane – U7598 North Street – B2096 Battle Road and vice versa.

The Order commences 19 May 2025 and lasts for a period of 18 months, or until works are completed, whichever is earlier. However, it is anticipated works will be undertaken between 19 and 21 May 2025 depending upon the weather conditions.

(Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2024

To allow Network Rail to carry out works, East Sussex County Council have made an Order under Sections 14(1) and 15(1)(b) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended, which will temporarily close the following length of road; Temporary Road Closure

Ripe Lane – for 80 metres either side of the railway track.

A safe route will be provided for pedestrians and vehicular access for residents and to properties maintained whenever possible with an alternative route for through traffic via C13 Ripe Lane – A27(T) Eastbourne Road, Lewes Road – C207 The Street, Langtye Lane, Poundfield Road – C331 Church Lane, The Street – C13 Mill Lane, Firle Road, Ripe Lane and vice versa.

The Order commenced 2 December 2024 and lasts for a period of 18 months, or until works are completed, whichever is earlier. However, it is anticipated works will be undertaken from 22:00hrs to 05:00hrs between 19 and 23 May 2025 depending upon the weather conditions.

To allow Network Rail to carry out works, East Sussex County Council have made an Order under Sections 14(1) and 15(1)(b) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended, which will temporarily close the following length of road;

Temporary Road Closure

Shrub Lane – 20 metres either side of the level crossing.

A safe route will be provided for pedestrians and vehicular access for residents and to properties maintained whenever possible with an alternative route for through traffic via C212 Battenhurst Road – C83 Cottenden Road – C214 Station Road, Witherenden Road, Swing Gate Hill – A265 Heathfield Road, Paygate, High Street and vice versa.

The Order commenced 16 March 2025 and lasts for a period of 18 months, or until works are completed, whichever is earlier. However, it is anticipated works will be undertaken as detailed below depending upon the weather conditions.

From 01:00hrs to 05.00hrs between 20 and 23 May 2025

(Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2025

To allow UKPN to carry out works, East Sussex County Council have made an Order under Sections 14(1) and 15(1)(b) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended, which will temporarily close the following length of road;

Temporary Road Closure

Curtains Hill/The Toll – from the junction with A272 Pound Green to the junction with A272 Main Road.

The Order commences 20 May 2025 and lasts for a period of 18 months, or until works are completed, whichever is earlier. However, it is anticipated works will be undertaken from 20:00hrs to 06:00hrs between 20 and 23 May 2025 depending upon the weather conditions.

To allow East Sussex Highways to carry out works, East Sussex County Council have made an Order under Sections 14(1) and 15(1)(b) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended, which will temporarily close the following lengths of road;

Eastbourne Road – from the junction with P5646 Chyngton Lane North to the junction with C120 Litlington Road.

East Dean Road – from the junction with C120 Litlington Road eastwards for 1200 metres.

Eastbourne Road/East Dean Road – from the junction with C37 Gilberts Drive to the junction with B2103 Warren Hill Road.

To allow East Sussex Highways to carry out works, East Sussex County Council intend not less than seven days from the date of this notice to make an Order under Sections 14(1) and 15(1)(b) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended, which will temporarily bring into force the following restrictions:-

Temporary Road Closures

Bushbury Lane – from the junction with B2192 Lewes Road to the junction with U7511 Beechy Road.

Diversion via U7511 Beechy Road – B2192 Lewes Road and vice versa.

Restriction is anticipated to be in place on 5 and 6 June 2025.

Keld Drive – for its entire length.

Restriction is anticipated to be in place between 9 June and 30 September 2025.

Hendal Hill/Cherry Gardens Hill/Plumyfeather Lane/Lye Green Road/Church Hill/Black Hill – from the junction with B2110 Withyham Road to the junction with B2026 High Road.

Diversion via B2026 High Road, Chuck Hatch Road, Cotchford Hill, Jib Jacks Hill – B2110 High Street, Castlefields, Withyham Road and vice versa. Restriction is anticipated to be in place between 9 and 24 June 2025.

Eridge Road – from the junction with C12 Sham Farm Road to the county border.

Diversion via A26 Eridge Road (KCC) – A267 Frant Road (KCC) – C70 Bunny Lane and vice versa.

Restriction is anticipated to be in place between 9 June and 30 September 2025.

Bunny Lane – from the junction with A267 Frant Road to the junction with A26 Eridge Road.

Diversion via A267 Frant Road, Frant Green Road, Mayfield Road, Tunbridge Wells Road, Mayfield Road, Tunbridge Wells Road, Argos Hill – B2101 Bicycle Arms Road, High Cross, Mayfield Road, South Street, High Street – B2100 Church Road, Rotherfield Road – C11 Western Road, Walshes Road, Fermor Road – C254 Hurtis Hill, Sheep Plain – A26 Beacon Road, Eridge Road and vice versa.

Uckfield Bypass – from the A22 Copwood roundabout to the A22 Blackdown roundabout.

Diversion via A22 Eastbourne Road – B2192 Heathfield Road, Lewes Road – B2102 High Street, Framfield Road, Blackboys Road, The Street, Hammonds Green, Bird in Eye Hill, Framfield Road, New Town, High Street, Bell Lane, Bell Farm Lane and vice versa.

Restrictions is anticipated to be in place from 20:00hrs to 06:00hrs on 15 and 16 July 2025.

Uckfield Bypass – from the A22 Blackdown roundabout to the Budletts roundabout.

Diversion via A22 Maresfield bypass – B2026 Straight Half Mile, Lampool Road – C3 New Road – A26 Uckfield Road, Five Ash Down, Mill Pond Road and vice versa.

Restrictions is anticipated to be in place from 20:00hrs to 06:00hrs on 15 and 16 July 2025.

Fairview Lane – from the junction with C70 Broadwater Forest Lane to the junction with C465 Hillswood Road.

Diversion via C465 Hillswood Road – C70 Broadwater Forest Lane and vice versa.

Restriction is anticipated to be in place between 16 and 23 June 2025.

Horns Hill – from the junction with C90 Merriments Lane to the county border.

Diversion via A229 (KCC) – A268 (KCC) – A268 Hawkhurst Road – A21 (T) and vice versa.

Restriction is anticipated to be in place between 9 and 16 July 2025.

Temporary 30 mph Speed Limit

Lewes Road – from Woodlands to Cider House Farm.

Restriction is anticipated to be in place on 5 and 6 June 2025.

A safe route will be provided for pedestrians and vehicular access for residents and to properties maintained whenever possible.

The Order commences 5 June 2025 and lasts for a period of 18 months, or until works are completed, whichever is earlier. However, it is anticipated works will be undertaken as detailed above depending upon the weather conditions.
