(EDINBURGH MARATHON FESTIVAL) (TEMPORARY ROAD
RESTRICTION AND TRAFFIC REGULATION)
ORDER 2025 – TEMP/25/65

The Council, with the consent of Scottish Ministers, has made an order under the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended, the effect of which will be that for a temporary period, to facilitate the holding of the Edinburgh Marathon event, no person shall: (a) drive or cause or permit to be driven any vehicle on the sections of roads specified in Schedule 1 hereto, where closures will apply to roads in their entirety unless otherwise stated; (b) except upon the direction or with the permission of a police constable in uniform, cause or permit any motor vehicle to enter into, remain, or proceed in or on any part of any length of road described in Schedule 2 during the hours and on the dates specified in column 3 of the said Schedule; (c) except with the permission of a Parking Attendant, cause or permit any vehicle to wait or load onto or unload from any vehicle on the sections of roads specified in Schedule 3 hereto, where prohibitions will apply to both sides of the roads in their entirety unless otherwise stated; (d) except upon the direction or with the permission of a police constable in uniform, drive or cause or permit any vehicle to be driven on any length of road specified in column 1 of Schedule 4, otherwise than in the direction specified in column 2 of the said Schedule; (e) except upon the direction or with the permission of a police constable in uniform, drive or cause or permit any vehicle to be driven on the road specified in column 1 of Schedule 5, so as to make the prohibited turn specified in column 2, into the road specified in column 3 of the said Schedule. The following restrictions shall be suspended: (06:00 to 11:00 hrs on 24/5/25) Bus lanes on Prestonfield Ave; (05:00 to 11:00 hrs on 25/5/25) One-way on West Crosscauseway & Nicolson Sq (south leg); (06:00 to 12:00 hrs on 25/5/25) Prohibition of Motor Vehicles on High St from Parliament Sq to Cockburn St, Prohibition of Entries on Ramsay La & Castlehill, One-way restriction including the contra-flow for buses, taxis and pedal cycles on Johnston Ter, One-way on Victoria St & Candlemaker Row; and (06:00 to 12:30 hrs on 25/5/25) Oneway on Meadowbank Ave. Existing parking restrictions may be suspended on the affected sections of road described in Sch 3. The alternative routes for through vehicular traffic will be by way of: Road Closures: (24/5/25) Peffermill Rd & Dalkeith Rd; (25/5/25) London Rd, Leith Walk, York Pl, Queen St, St. Colme St, Ainslie Pl, Great Stuart St, Randolph Cres, Drumsheugh Pl, Drumsheugh Gdns, Chester St, Palmerston Pl, Torphichen St, Dewar Pl, Morrison St, Lothian Rd, Earl Grey St, Brougham St, Melville Dr, Summerhall Cres, Sciennes, Sciennes House Pl, Causewayside, West Preston St, East Preston St, Dalkeith Rd, Blackett Ave, Minto St, Mayfield Gdns, Craigmillar Pk, Liberton Rd, Gilmerton Rd, Kingston Ave, Old Dalkeith Rd, Craigmillar Castle Rd, Duddingston Rd West, Willowbrae Rd, London Rd & Portobello Rd; Prohibition of Motor Vehicles: (Restalrig Rd Sth) Marionville Ave, Marionville Rd & Wishaw Ter, (Buccleuch Pl & George Sq) no available diversion; One Way restrictions:(Duddingston Rd West, Prestonfield Ave, Holyrood Pk Rd) Peffermill Rd, Dalkeith Rd; (Hanover St) George St & Charlotte Sq; Prohibition of turning: Peffermill Rd & Dalkeith Rd. The order shall have effect during the hours and on the dates specified in the Schedules.
