THE HAMPSHIRE (VAROUS ROADS, EASTLEIGH AND WINCHESTER)

(30, 40 AND 50 MILES PER HOUR SPEED LIMIT) (NO. 2) ORDER 2025

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that Hampshire County Council made the above-mentioned Order on Tuesday 6th May 2025, in exercise of its powers and duties under Sections 82, 83, 84 and 122(1) and (2) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 (“the Act”), Part IV of Schedule 9 of the Act and of all other enabling powers, after consultation with the Chief Officer of Police in accordance with Part III of Schedule 9 of the Act, and having discharged its duty under section 122 of the Act.

GENERAL NATURE AND EFFECTS OF THE ORDER: Will be to:

(i) Extend the 30 miles per hour speed limit on B3354 Winchester Road 146 metres further north of its junction with Hill Close.

(ii) Reduce the 40 miles per hour speed limit on B3354 Winchester Road by 146 metres between a point 226 metres north of its junction with Nobs Crook and a point 146 metres north of its junction with Hill Close, Crowdhill.

This order will revoke and re-instate ‘The Hampshire (Various Roads, Eastleigh and Winchester) (Restricted Road, 30, 40 and 50 Miles Per Hour Speed Limit) (No. 2) Order 2018’ and ‘The Hampshire (B2177, Fisher’s Pond to Lower Upham) (40 and 50 Miles Per Hour Speed Limit) Order 2013’ with no change of substance save for the extended 30 miles per hour limit, described above, and the revocation of schedule I restricted roads from ‘The Hampshire (Various Roads, Eastleigh and Winchester) (Restricted Road, 30, 40 and 50 Miles Per Hour Speed Limit) (No. 2) Order 2018’. However, these restricted roads will remain by virtue of section 82(1)(a) of the Act, 30 miles per hour with no requirement for an Order.’

DATE OF OPERATION: The order will come into force on Friday 23rd May 2025.

(iii) Hampshire County Council Headquarters, The Castle, Winchester, SO23 8UJ (Opening hours: Mondays to Thursdays 8.30 – 17.15; Fridays 8.30 – 16.45)
