Westmorland & Furness, Temporary Road Closures Due To Highway Works

What is happening?

WESTMORLAND AND FURNESS COUNCIL (VARIOUS ROADS IN THE WESTMORLAND AND FURNESS AREA) (TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF ALL TRAFFIC) (NO.2) ORDER 2025

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that to enable highway works to be carried out (“the Works”), Westmorland and Furness Council has made an Order the effect of which is to prohibit all traffic (i.e. vehicles, pedestrians and cyclists) from proceeding along the lengths of road specified in the attached Schedule.

Suitable diversion routes will be indicated on site by the display of relevant traffic signs as and when the temporary closures are in force.

Pedestrian and vehicle access will be maintained where practicable.

The prohibition of traffic will be in operation when required.

The works are scheduled to commence during May 2025 and are expected to continue for a maximum duration of eighteen months. However, please note that it is anticipated that individual closures will only be required for 2 weeks only and as and when the relevant traffic signs are displayed.

    B5271, Lindale, from a point approx. 150 metres south west of its junction with the A590, extending in a south easterly direction to its junction with The Gill.

    (a) C5046 The Gill, Lindale from its junction with the B5271, extending in a south easterly direction to its junction with Kendal Road (B5277).

    Alternative Route for East Bound: via the A590, Meathop Roundabout and the A590.

    Alternative Route for West Bound: via the unrestricted section of the B5271, A590, Meathop Roundabout and Kendal Road (B5277).

  2. C5076, Heaves (Ref: TRTW01/4078)

    From its junction with Brigsteer Road, extending in a north easterly then south easterly direction to its junction with A590.

    Alternative Route for East Bound: via the A590, A6, Romney Road and Brigsteer Road.

    Alternative Route for West Bound: via the A590, A6, Romney Road and Brigsteer Road.

  3. B5282 Park Road, Milnthorpe (Ref: TRTW01/4090)

    From its junction with Black Dyke Road, extending in a north easterly direction for a distance of approx. 46 km.

    Alternative Route: via Black Dyke Road, Codd Hill View, Beetham Road, Thrang Brow Lane, Silverdale Road, Eight Acre Road, 46 Beetham Road.

  4. U5337, Haverthwaite – (Ref: TRTW01/4091)

    From its junction with Princes Way (A6), extending in a westerly then south easterly direction to its junction with A590 (B5285).

    Alternative Route via the Princes Way, Church Street and Park Road (A6).

  5. C5095 Levens Lane, Levens - (Ref: TRTW01/4092)

    From a point approx. 480 metres east of its junction with Greengate, extending in an easterly direction for approx. 13 km.

    Alternative Route for North West Bound: via the A6, A590, Church Road and the unrestricted section of Levens Lane.

  6. C5077, Old Hutton - (Ref: TRTW01/4100)

    From its junction with the C5078, extending in a north easterly direction to its junction with Old Scotch Road.

    Alternative Route: via the unrestricted sections of the C5077, C5068, A684, C5068 and the B6254.

  7. U5643, Killington - (Ref: TRTW01/4104)

    From the junction with the U5631, extending in a northerly direction for a distance of approx. 1.7 km.

    Alternative Route: via the unrestricted section of the U5643, New Road and Old Scotch Road.

  8. C5096 Old Scotch Road, Killington (Ref: TRTW01/4105)

    From its junction with the U5643, extending in a northerly direction to its junction with the A684.

    Alternative Route: via the U5631, C5088, B6254, C5077 and the unrestricted section of Old Scotch Road.

  9. A5902 Staveley-in-Cartmel - (Ref: TRTW01/4110)

    From its junction with Fell Foot Brow, extending in a northerly direction for a distance of approx. 3.1 km.

    Alternative Route for South Bound: via the unrestricted sections of the A592, A5901, A590, A5094 and the B5285.

    Alternative Route for North Bound: via the unrestricted sections of the B5285, A590, A5094, A5901 and the A592.

  10. A5901, Newby Bridge - (Ref: TRTW01/4124)

    From its junction with the A590, extending in a southerly then northerly direction to its junction with A5094.

    Alternative Route for East Bound: via the A5094, A590, A592 and the A591.

    Alternative Route for West Bound: via the unrestricted sections of the A591, New Road, Lake Road, A592, A5901 and the A5094.

  11. A5074, Kendal - (Ref: TRTW01/4133)

    From its junction with A6, extending in a southerly direction to its junction with Castle Road.

    Alternative Route: via the unrestricted section of A6, A684, Sandysike Road, Appleby Road (A685), Longpool, Wildman Street, Stramongate, Ann Street, New Road, Stricklandgate, Blackhall Road, and the B5287.

  12. A684, New Hutton - (Ref: TRTW01/4137)

    From its junction with the A685, extending in a south easterly direction to its junction with the A683.

    Alternative Route for East Bound: via the A685, A684, A683, A684, and the B6254.

  13. A593, Torver/Back Bridge - (Ref: TRTW01/4174)

    From its junction with the B5285, extending in a south westerly direction for a distance of approx. 17 km.

    Alternative Route for East Bound: via the A5092, A595, A5901, A590, A591, B5286 and the B5285.

  14. A591, Ambleside Road - (Ref: TRTW01/4270)

    From its junction with the A592, extending in a southerly direction for a distance of approx. 12 km.

    Alternative Route: via the unrestricted sections of the A592, Ambleside Road, Lake Road, Wansfell Road, Rydal Road, Compston Road, Rydal Road, and the A591 (Keswick) and A5094.

  15. A5074 Lyth Valley Road, Windermere - (Ref: TRTW01/4276)

    From its junction with Ambleside Road (A591), extending in a south westerly direction to a point approx. 1.3 km south of junction.

    Alternative Route for North Bound: via the A5074, A5901, A5094 and the A591.

  16. A5074 Lyth Valley Road, Ings - (Ref: TRTW01/4278)

    From its junction with the U5601, extending in a south easterly direction for a distance of approx. 2.8 km.
