(TEMPORARY 10 MILES PER HOUR SPEED RESTRICTION)

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that National Highways Limited has made an Order on the A1 Trunk Road, in the County of Northumberland, to enable horticultural works to be carried out in safety.

The works are expected to start on Wednesday 21 May 2025 for 1 night and Thursday 3rd July 2025 for 1 night, or until completed, and will take place overnight between 8pm and 6am.

The effect of the Order will be to impose, at times during the works, a temporary 10mph speed restriction on the A1 Trunk Road from Wooler Charlton Junction to Belford Junction, a distance of 1320 metres. The 10mph limit will only apply when, for safety reasons, traffic has to be escorted through the works by a highway maintenance vehicle.

Traffic signs will indicate the extent of the restriction (which will not apply to emergency service vehicles or special forces vehicles).  The Order comes into force on 20 May 2025 and has a maximum duration of eighteen months.
