CITY OF DONCASTER COUNCIL
PUBLIC BYWAY OPEN TO ALL TRAFFIC (BOAT) NUMBER 8 CANTLEY
DONCASTER
PROHIBITION OF ALL TRAFFIC
TEMPORARY ORDER 2024
EXTENSION NOTICE

Notice is hereby given that the above named Order made by City of Doncaster
Council on the 21st day of November 2024 which came into force on the 22nd day
of November 2024 has been continued in force with the approval of the Secretary of
State for Transport under section 15(3) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 as
amended by the Road Traffic (Temporary Restrictions) Act 1991 up to and including
the 20th day of May 2026. The Order would otherwise have expired on the day of
21st day of May 2025.
The Order was made to ensure the safety of the public and the workforce whilst
Network Rail explore ways to mitigate the problem of members of the public ignoring
the warning lights and crossing when trains are approaching.
Reason for the extension of the temporary order is that Network Rail have reviewed
possible mitigations for the safety issues at Bessacarr Lane Railway Crossing and
have requested more time to investigate the false red display at the miniature stop
lights and feasible options to mitigate the problem.
NOTICE is also given that the alternative route for traffic affected by the Order is via
Warren Lane over bridge.
The order will continue in force up to and including the 20th day of May 2026 or until
the works which it is proposed to carry out in the said public byway have been
completed, whichever is the earlier. If the works are not completed within the time
stated the Order may be further extended with the approval of the Secretary of State
for Transport. (PO498)
DATED this 15th day of May 2025

Service Director for Legal and Democratic Services
