ROAD TRAFFIC REGULATION ACT 1984: SECTION 14(1)

TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF TRAFFIC ORDER 2025

STAGSDEN ROAD, BROMHAM 25 - 018

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that Bedford Borough Council has made an Order the effect of which will be to prohibit any vehicle except a vehicle being used for fire, police or ambulance purposes in an emergency, from proceeding along the length of Stagsden Road, Bromham junction Laurel Avenue.

This temporary road closure is required to facilitate the construction of a new footway, and re locate bus stop and shall apply to such extent as may from time to time be indicated by the appropriate traffic signs.

This temporary road closure is anticipated to be in operation 09:00 to 16:00 hours from 26th May 2025 to 30th May 2025

The signed alternative route for vehicles affected by the order is available via Stagsden Road, Bromham Bypass, C46 Slip Road To A428, Box End Road.

The reverse route applies.

BEDFORD BOROUGH COUNCIL PROPOSE TO REDUCE THE SPEED LIMIT ON THURLEIGH ROAD, BOLNHURST

Reason for Proposal:

Bedford Borough Council has received a request from Bolnhurst & Keysoe Parish Council to introduce a 40mph speed limit on Thurleigh Road, Bolnhurst. This proposed 40mph speed limit will act as a “buffer zone” to enable vehicles to decelerate in a smoother manner on the approach to the junction with Kimbolton Road.

Effect of the Order:

1. To introduce a 40mph speed limit on the following length of road:-

A  Thurleigh Road, Bolnhurst

(i)   From the end of the existing 40mph speed limit (approx. 19.5m metres west of the western side of the B660 Kimbolton Road), for a distance of approx. 670 metres in a westerly direction.

Relevant proposal documents may be examined during normal office hours at Borough Hall, Cauldwell Street, Bedford, MK42 9AP. The documents will be placed on deposit until 6 weeks after the Order is made or until it is decided not to continue with the proposal. BEDFORD BOROUGH COUNCIL PROPOSE TO INTRODUCE SOME PARKING RESTRICTIONS IN VARIOUS ROADS AT WOOTTON

Reason for Proposal:

Following a request from Wootton Parish Council, Bedford Borough Council proposes to introduce parking restrictions in Bedford Road, and at the Fields Road junctions with Monoux Road and Summerfield Drive, Wootton. The restrictions are required due to inconsiderate parking at these locations.

Effect of the Order:

1. To introduce ‘No waiting at any time’ restrictions (double yellow lines) on the following lengths of roads:

A   Fields Road, Wootton

(i)     On both sides, extending in an easterly direction from the projected boundary between nos. 32 and 32a Fields Road to a point approx. 20 metres east of the centre of Summerfield Drive.

(ii)    On both sides, extending in an easterly direction from the projected boundary between nos. 33a and 33c Fields Road to a point approx. 24 metres east of the eastern side of Monoux Road. B Summerfield Drive, Wootton

(i)     On both sides, extending from the south-western side of Fields Road for a distance of approx. 36 metres in a south-westerly direction.

C     Monoux Road, Wootton

(i)     On both sides, extending from the northern side of Fields Road for a distance of approx. 23 metres in a north-easterly direction.

D      Bedford Road, Wootton

(i)      On its western side, extending from a point approx. 23.7 metres north of the centre of Cause End Road (the end of the existing no waiting at any time restriction) for a distance of approx. 47 metres in a northerly direction (to the start of the bus stop layby).

BEDFORD BOROUGH COUNCIL PROPOSE TO INTRODUCE SOME PARKING RESTRICTIONS IN GREAT PORTWAY, GREAT DENHAM

Reason for Proposal:

Bedford Borough Council has received a request from Great Denham Parish Council for a new parking restriction in Great Portway, Gt Denham, following concerns raised about inconsiderate parking at this location. This restriction will help keep this area clear of parked vehicles, thus improving visibility for vehicles and helping to provide a safer road network for all highway users, including cyclists and pedestrians.

Effect of the Order:

1. To introduce “No waiting at any time” restrictions (double yellow lines) on the following length of road:

A    Great Portway, Great Denham

(i)     On its north-western kerb, extending from a point approx. 17.5 metres east  of the projected centre of Woodville Drive (the end of the existing parking restriction) for a distance of approx. 84.5 metres in a north-easterly direction (the start of the existing parking restriction).

(PROHIBITION AND RESTRICTION OF WAITING AND LOADING AND PARKING PLACES) ORDER 2017

(AMENDMENT NO.30) ORDER 2025 NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that on 1st May 2025 Bedford Borough Council made the above Traffic Regulation Order, the effect of which is detailed below:Effect of the Order.

1. To revoke all existing waiting and loading restrictions, taxi bays, loading bays, disabled persons parking bays, Permit Holders parking bays and replace with the following:- “No waiting at any time” restrictions (double yellow lines) and “No loading at any time” restrictions (double kerb blips) on the following lengths of roads:

A    St Paul’s Square, Bedford

(i)      Starting on the east side of the western leg, from a point approx. 29.5 metres south of the south side of Horne Lane (the end of the proposed zebra crossing controlled zone), extending around the southern leg of St Pauls Square on its northern side in an anti-clockwise and easterly direction for a distance of approx. 69.5 metres.

(ii)     On the southern side of the southern leg, extending from a point approx. 49.5 metres west of the projected east flank wall of property No.1 for a distance of approx. 10 metres in a westerly direction.

(iii)    On the south-western side of the southern leg, from a point approx. 29.5 metres south of the south side of Horne Lane (the end of the proposed zebra crossing controlled zone), extending for a distance of approx. 14.5 metres in a southeasterly direction.

(iv)    On the southern side of the southern leg, extending from a point approx. 2 metres west of the projected east flank wall of property No.1 for a distance of approx. 13.5 metres in an easterly direction

(v)     On the northern side of the southern leg, extending from a point approx. 2.5 metres east of the projected east flank wall of property No.1 for a distance of approx. 8.5 metres in a north-easterly direction.

(vi)    On the southern side of the northern leg, extending from a point approx. 4.5 metres west of the western side of High Street for a distance of approx. 52 metres in a westerly direction.

(vii)   On the southern side of the northern leg, extending from a point approx. 71.5m west of the western side of High Street for a distance of approx. 27 metres in a westerly direction (to the end of the proposed zebra crossing controlled zone).

(viii)  On the northern side of the northern leg, extending from a point approx. 13.5m west of the western side of High Street for a distance of approx. 9.5 metres in an easterly direction.

(ix)    On both sides of the access to riverside, except for the reserved Registrar’s parking bay, to the extent of adopted highway.

B     Horne Lane

(i)      On its southern side, extending from a point approx. 9.5 metres west of the projected west side of the western leg of St Paul’s Square for a distance of approx. 7 metres in a westerly direction.

2. To introduce new “No waiting at any time” restrictions (double yellow lines) on the following length of road:

A  Horne Lane, Bedford

(i)      On its northern side, extending from a point approx. 13.5 metres west of the projected west side of the western leg of St Paul’s Square for a distance of approx. 16 metres in a westerly direction.

3. To introduce new “Taxis Only parking bay, 11pm - 4.30am” on the following length of road:

A    St Paul’s Square, Bedford

(i)    On the northern side of the northern leg, extending from a point approx. 9 metres west of the western side of High Street for a distance of approx. 63 metres in a westerly direction.

4. To introduce “Loading Only Midnight - 8am, 9.30am - Midnight 15 mins No return within 1 hour” on the following lengths of road: A St Paul’s Square, Bedford

(i)    On the southern side of the northern leg, extending from a point approx. 56.5 metres west of the western side of High Street for a distance of approx. 15 metres in a westerly direction.

(ii)     On the northern side of the southern leg, extending from a point approx. 2.5 metres east of the projected east flank wall of property No.1 for a distance of approx. 29 metres in a westerly direction.

5. To introduce new “No Stopping At Any Time Except Taxis” parking bay on the following length of road:

A    St Paul’s Square, Bedford

(i)    On the southern side of the southern leg, extending from a point approx. 2 metres west of the projected east flank wall of property No.1 for a distance of approx. 22 metres in a westerly direction.

6. To introduce a “Disabled Persons Only parking bay” on the following length of road: A St Paul’s Square, Bedford

(i)     On the southern side of the southern leg, extending from a point approx. 24 metres west of the projected east flank wall of property No.1 for a distance of approx. 18.2 metres in a westerly direction.

7. To introduce Registrar Only Permit Holders Zone W parking bay on the following length of road:

A    St Paul’s Square, Bedford

(i)   On the southern side of the southern leg, extending from a point approx.

4.5 metres west of the projected east flank wall of property No.6 for a distance of approx. 5.5 metres in a westerly direction.

8. To revoke existing “No waiting and No Loading at any time, No Loading 7.45am - 9.30am & 1pm - 6pm” restrictions and extend the existing Red Route Clearway “No stopping at any time” on the following length of road: A High Street, Bedford

(i)      Extending in a southerly direction, from a point approx. 16.5 metres north of the northern side of the northern leg of St Paul’s Square (the end of the existing Red Route Clearway) to its junction with the southern leg of St Paul’s Square.

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that on 1st May 2025 Bedford Borough Council made the above Traffic Regulation Order, the effect of which is detailed below:

Effect of the Order:

1. To remove one existing disabled persons parking bay at the following location:

A   Beatrice Street, Bedford

(i)   In front of property 13 Beatrice Street, Kempston

Date of Operation This Order will come into force on 6th May 2025 or as soon as practicable after this date.

ROAD TRAFFIC REGULATION ACT 1984 – SECTION 14(1)  

BEDFORD BOROUGH COUNCIL (SHARNBROOK FOOTHPATH NO 6)

(TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF THROUGH TRAFFIC) ORDER 2025

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that Bedford Borough Council intend not less than seven days from the date of this Notice to make an Order the effect of which will be to prohibit any person proceeding on foot along the length of Sharnbrook: Footpath No 6 which extends from Ordnance Survey Grid Reference (OS GR) SP 0069 5926 to OS GR SP 0116 5958. 

This temporary closure is required due to Construction works. The closure is expected to take place from Monday 2nd June 2025 for up to six months.

The alternative route for footpath users while the closure is in operation will be to proceed along Mill Road to OS GR SP 0069 5926 then proceed in an easterly direction to OS GR SP 0110 5920 and along Footpath No 8 to OS GR SP 0116 5958 and vice visa.

The proposed Order will come into operation on 2nd June 2025 for a period not exceeding six months or until the works which it is proposed to carry out on or near to the footpath have been completed, whichever is the earlier. If the works are not completed within six months the Order may be extended for a longer period with the consent of the Secretary of State for Transport.
