Luton - Multiple Traffic Notices

THE BOROUGH OF LUTON
(VARIOUS ROADS)
(TEMPORARY ROAD CLOSURES) (No.18) ORDER 2025

NOTICE is hereby given that Luton Borough Council, the Highway Authority for the said Borough, intends to make the above Order under the relevant provisions of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 (as amended).

The Order will come into operation on 11th June 2025 for a period of 18 months or when the proposed works have been completed, whichever is the earlier. Specific dates and times will be signed locally. The Order will therefore be in operation during such date and time and to such extent as indicated by traffic signs, barriers or cones.

The effect of the Order will allow the Council to close to vehicular traffic the following roads and lengths of roads:
Acworth Crescent the whole length. Diversion route via Montague Avenue, Toddington Road, Hasketon Drive, Needham Road, Butely Road, Ickley Close, Hockwell Ring, The Green, Mayne Avenue, Broxley Mead. Anticipated date and times of closure 11th June 2025 to 14th June 2025, 8am to 6pm.
Pirton Road the whole length. Diversion route via Montague Avenue, Toddington Road, Hasketon Drive, Needham Road, Butely Road, Ickley Close, Hockwell Ring, The Green, Mayne Avenue, Broxley Mead. Anticipated date and times of closure 11th June 2025 to 14th June 2025, 8am to 6pm.
Hockwell Ring from its junction with Strangers Way to No. 134. Diversion route via Hockwell Ring. Anticipated date and times of closure 12th June 2025 to 17th June 2025, 8am to 6pm.
Brunel Road from its junction with Thatch Close to its junction with Tomlinson Avenue. Diversion route via Tomlinson Avenue, Wheatfield Road, Regis Road. Alternatively, via Brunel Road, Poynter’s Road, Leagrave High Street, Tomlinson Avenue. Anticipated date and times of closure 13th June 2025 to 18th June 2025, 8am to 6pm.
High Wood Close the whole length. Diversion route via Felmersham Road, Whipperley Ring, Castle Croft Road, Whitethorn Way, Priestleys, Rockley Road, Barnard Road. Anticipated date and times of closure 17th June 2025 to 19th June 2025, 8am to 6pm.
Long Croft Road from its junction with Felmersham Road to its junction with Castle Croft Road. Diversion route via Felmersham Road, Whipperley Ring, Castle Croft Road, Whitethorn Way, Priestleys, Rockley Road, Barnard Road. Anticipated date and times of closure 18th June 2025 to 23rd June 2025, 8am to 6pm.
Castle Croft Road from its junction with Whitethorn Way to its junction with Long Croft Road. Diversion route via Felmersham Road, Whipperley Ring, Castle Croft Road, Whitethorn Way, Priestleys, Rockley Road, Barnard Road. Anticipated date and times of closure 19th June 2025 to 24th June 2025, 8am to 6pm.
Chesford Road from its junction with Stapleton Road to its junction with Rochester Avenue. Diversion route via Stapleford Road, Applecroft Road, Rochester Avenue. Alternatively, via Rochester Avenue, Putteridge Road, Stapleford Road. Anticipated date and times of closure 23rd June 2025 to 25th June 2025, 8am to 6pm.
Homerton Road the whole length. Diversion route via Icknield Way, Bramingham Road, Ailsworth Road, Swasedale Road. Alternatively, via Swasedale Road, Icknield Way. Anticipated date and times of closure 24th June 2025 to 27th June 2025, 8am to 6pm.
Sedbury Close the whole length. Diversion route via Icknield Way, Bramingham Road, Ailsworth Road, Swasedale Road. Alternatively, via Swasedale Road, Icknield Way. Anticipated date and times of closure 24th June 2025 to 27th June 2025, 8am to 6pm.
Wistow Road the whole length. Diversion route via Icknield Way, Bramingham Road, Ailsworth Road, Swasedale Road. Alternatively, via Swasedale Road, Icknield Way. Anticipated date and times of closure 25th June 2025 to 27th June 2025, 8am to 6pm.
Plantation Road the whole length. Diversion route via Spinney Road, Eighth Avenue. Alternatively, via Eighth Avenue, Hil Rise, Spinney Road. Anticipated date and times of closure 26th June 2025 to 28th June 2025, 8am to 6pm.

The Order is intended to create a window for the works to be done and it is anticipated that the works will be completed over a period as described above. The purpose of the Order is to enable Volker Highways to carry out resurfacing works. For the period of the closure, the Order will also provide for “No Waiting and No Loading” restrictions to apply within the roads and lengths of roads closed for said works. Any vehicle deemed to be in contravention of the restrictions will be issued with a penalty charge notice and removed. This will be in force when traffic signs, barriers or cones are displayed. Access will be maintained as best as possible to properties where this may be done safely whilst such works are being carried out and diversions for traffic will be marked by signs.
