Norwich - Multiple Roads, Temporary Road Closures Due To Various Works

TEMPORARY TRAFFIC REGULATION ORDERS 2025 (NORWICH)

Road Traffic Regulation Act, 1984

Norfolk County Council in exercise of its powers under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, hereby give notice that:

1) THEY PROPOSE TO MAKE Temporary Traffic Regulation Orders in respect of the following roads:

BRACONDALE & MARTINEAU LANE – 1) A1054 Bracondale (inclusive of the roundabout from its junction with King Street to its junction with Martineau Lane Roundabout and;

2) C202 Bracondale (inclusive of the roundabout) from its junction with Martineau Lane Roundabout for 55m southwards and;

3) Martineau Lane (inclusive of the roundabout) from its junction with A146 Loddon Road to its junction with Martineau Lane Roundabout to facilitate resurfacing works between 19:00 and 06:00 from 19th to 24th May 2025 (may continue until 25th July 2025). Alternative route is via: 1): Queens Road, St Stephens Road, Ipswich Road, Lakenham Road, Barrett Road, Martineau Lane and vice versa. 2): Martineau Lane, Barrett Road, Long John Hill, Stoke Road, White Horse Lane and vice versa. 3): Bracondale, Queens Road, St Stephens Road, Ipswich Road, Lakenham Road, Barrett Road and vice versa. The works promoter is Norfolk County Council.

ii) THEY HAVE MADE Temporary Traffic Regulation Orders in respect of the following roads:

CHAPEL FIELD ROAD SUBWAY (Footpath) – from its eastern entrance in Chapel Field Gardens to its western entrance adjacent to Chapel Field Road to facilitate subway cleaning and maintenance works from 12th to 30th May 2025 (may continue until 11th July 2025). Alternative route is via: Chapel Field Gardens Footpath, Chapel Field Road Pedestrian Crossing at Vauxhall Street, Chapel Field Road and vice versa. The works promoter is Norwich City Council.

NEWMARKET ROAD – from west of its junction with Lime Tree Road to its junction with Unthank Road to facilitate Anglian Water sewer replacement works. The road will be subject to the temporary suspension of the bus lanes from 13th to 15th May 2025 (may continue until 20th June 2025). The works promoter is Anglian Water.

RUTLAND STREET – from its south of its junction with York Street for 30m northwards to facilitate UK Power Networks works from 12th to 18th May 2025 (may continue until 27th June 2025). Alternative route is via: Northumberland Street, Grosvenor Road, Onley Street, York Street and vice versa. The works promoter is UK Power Networks.

UNTHANK ROAD, DOVER STREET, ONLEY STREET – 1) Unthank Road from 20m west of its junction with Gloucester Road for 50m westwards and 2) Onley Street from its south of its junction with Unthank Road for 5m southwards and;

3) Dover Street from north of its junction with Unthank Road to 50m northwards to facilitate manhole cover repairs between 19:00 on 12th May and 06:00 on 13th May 2025 (may continue until the 24th June 2025). Alternative route is: 1): Eastbound Diversion – Colman Road, Earlham Road, Unthank Road. Westbound Diversion – Unthank Road, Earlham Road, Colman Road. 2) Dover Street, Porterfield Road, Portland Street, Portland Street, Porterfield Road, Dover Street. 3) Onley Street, Leicester Street, Gloucester Street. Gloucester Street, Leicester Street, Onley Street and vice versa. The works promoter is Anglian Water.

Unless otherwise stated, the effect of these Orders will be to prohibit the use by vehicles of the named road(s)/footpath(s). In the event of the date stated being delayed the new date will be displayed on a site notice. When an Order is for a reason other than works it is because of the likelihood of danger to the public or of serious damage to the road/footpath. Anticipated dates are stated but the Orders may continue until the end date where necessary or required. The Orders are revoked on the end date or on the actual date of removal of the prohibition/restriction which may be earlier without further notice. If necessary, the restrictions can have a maximum duration of 18 months or 6 months in respect of footpaths, cycle paths, bridleways, restricted byways, and byways open to all traffic (BOAT).

Penalty: £1000 – maximum fine on conviction and/or endorsement for contravention.
