On the 9 December 2024 the Yorkshire Dales National Park Authority made the above Order, the effect of which prohibits any pedestrian from proceeding along part of Footpath No. 6 from the point of closure at Grid Reference SE 0110 8846 for a distance of approximately 110 metres to Grid Reference SE 0101 8839 in the Parish of Aysgarth from 9 December until the 19 May 2025 owing to works being executed on and near to the footpath.
The Secretary of State for Transport, Local Government and the Regions has now made a Direction, in exercise of his powers under S15(5) of the above Act, following a request by the Authority, that the Order shall continue in force for a further period of 6 months until 11 November 2025 or until the completion of the works whichever is the earlier. The closure will be continued by means of the erection of notices and signs. A permissive alternative route may be used during the closure period which will be as follows: From the point of closure at Grid Reference SE 0110 8846 from the stile adjacent to Church Bank Country Road following the wall boundary northwest before bearing south westwards to the wall boundary northwest before bearing south westwards to the wall boundary and stile and point of closure at Grid Reference SE 0101 8839 and return. The closure is to safeguard the public owing to construction traffic and works on the caravan and camping field adjacent to the Aysgarth Falls Hotel affecting the public right of way.
