Long Lane/Crossdale Road – Prohibition of Waiting/Prohibition of Loading and Unloading Notice of Making

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that Wigan Borough Council, in exercise of the powers under Section 1, 2, 3 and 4 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 and the Traffic Management Act 2004 and of all other enabling powers and after consultation with the Chief Officer of Police in accordance with Part III of Schedule 9 of the Act 1984, has made the Wigan Borough (Decriminalisation of Parking) (Various Roads in Wigan Borough) (Traffic Regulation Consolidation) Order 2004 (Amendment No.604) Order 2025 which will come into operation on 22/05/2025.

The effect of the Order will be to introduce prohibited waiting at any time on:

•    Long Lane Hindley Green – both sides from its junction with Crossdale Road to a point 10 metres north of its junction with Crossdale Road.

•    Crossdale Road Hindley Green – north side from a point 10 metres east of its junction with Long Lane to a point 8 metres west of its junction with Long Lane. The effect of the Order will be to introduce no loading/unloading at all times on:

•    Long Lane Hindley Green – both sides from its junction with Crossdale Road to a point 10 metres north of its junction with Crossdale Road.

•    Crossdale Road Hindley Green – north side from a point 10 metres east of its junction with Long Lane to a point 8 metres west of its junction with Long Lane. A copy of the Order and of the relevant map may be requested by emailing  d.rumsey@wigan.gov.uk.

Any person who desires to question the validity of the Order or any provision contained therein on the ground:

(a) that it is not within the powers of Section 1 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984; or the Traffic Management Act 2004, or

(b) that any requirement of the said Section 1, or of Part III of Schedule 9 to the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, or of any regulations made under the said Part III of Schedule 9 or of any requirement of the 2004 Act, has not been complied with, may within six weeks of 29/04/2025 make application for the purpose to the High Court.
