Sedgefield, Temporary Road Closure Due To Carriageway Resurfacing Works
What is happening?
The County Council of Durham
(The Lane, East End and Butterwick Road, Sedgefield) (Temporary Road Closure) Order 2025
The Council proposes to make an Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 as amended, to prohibit all vehicular traffic From proceeding on the following lengths of road: a 590-metre length of The Lane and East End between their junctions with North End/Durham Road and Front Street/Stockton Road, and incorporating a 5-metre length of Butterwick Road, Sedgefield to enable carriageway resurfacing works to be undertaken.
The alternative route is available to vehicular traffic from the northwestern side of the closure from Durham Road southwards on North End then easterly on Front Street to the East End/Stockton Road junction to the southeastern side of the closure, and vice versa.
The maximum duration of the Order is 18 months. The works are expected to commence on Tuesday 27/5/25 and are anticipated to be completed in 8 days. On occasions, alternative dates for the closure may be necessary and these will be signed on site accordingly.
