What is happening?

THE METROPOLITAN BOROUGH COUNCIL OF STOCKPORT
(FOOTPATH 170 STOCKPORT) (TEMPORARY CLOSURE) NOTICE 2025

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the Metropolitan Borough Council of Stockport has made an Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 as amended by the Road Traffic (Temporary Restrictions) Act 1991, the effect of which will be to temporarily close Footpath 170 Stockport between Harcourt Road and Hawthorn Road, Heaton Mersey the route will be closed at various points at different times whilst traffic signs to that effect are in place on or near the said public footpath. This Order is necessary to allow contractors to proceed with works on the Heaton Mersey Common/Heatons Link Cycle Scheme It is anticipated that the maximum duration of the works will be 6 months. Alternative routes will be alternative routes will be signed on site. This Order came into operation on the 9 May 2025 and will have effect for six months, provided that if all necessary works are completed within a shorter period this Order shall cease to have effect at the end of that shorter period.
