DEFINITIVE MAP AND STATEMENT OF PUBLIC RIGHTS OF WAY

MODIFICATION ORDER 2022
The above Order made on 10th March 2022 was confirmed without modification by an Inspector acting for the Secretary of State for the Environment on 4th April 2025.
The effect of the Order as confirmed is to modify the Definitive Map and Statement by upgrading to a restricted byway part of Hitchin Footpath 42 from Road off Charlton Road (formerly known as Mill Lane) at TL 1784 2799 then SW along the track for approx 25m to the field boundary at TL 1783 2797.

The Order becomes operative as from the date on which it was confirmed, but if a person aggrieved by the Order desires to question the validity thereof, or of any provision contained therein, on the ground that it is not within the powers of the Wildlife and Countryside Act 1981, or on the ground that any requirement of the Act, or any regulation made thereunder, has not been complied with in relation to the Order, he may, under paragraph 12 of Schedule 15 of the Act within 42 days from 8th May 2025, make application for the purpose of the High Court.
(TEMPORARY CLOSING OF VARIOUS FOOTPATHS IN STEVENAGE AND HITCHIN) ORDER NO.2 2025
NOTICE is given that Hertfordshire County Council intends to make an Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, to prohibit all pedestrians from using the following lengths of footpath (“the Footpaths”):-

the footpath situated on the south side of Nos.34-54 Torquay Crescent, Stevenage from a point in line with the eastern boundary of No.54 Torquay Crescent south westwards for a distance of approximately 68m.
There is no alternative route available for pedestrians when the works are being carried out. However pedestrian access to properties along this footpath will be maintained whenever possible throughout the duration of the works.

the footpath situated on the south side of Nos.110-120 Torquay Crescent, Stevenage from a point in line with the eastern boundary of No.120 Torquay Close south westwards, north westwards, north eastwards and north westwards for a distance of approximately 123m.
An alternative route will be via Torquay Crescent.

the footpath situated on the north side of Nos.122-130 Torquay Crescent, Stevenage from a point in line with the eastern boundary of No.122 Torquay Crescent south westwards, south eastwards, south westwards and south eastwards to its junction with Torquay Crescent, a distance of approximately 71m.
There is no alternative route available for pedestrians when the works are being carried out. However pedestrian access to properties along this footpath will be maintained whenever possible throughout the duration of the works.

the footpath situated between No.164 and No.166 Torquay Crescent, Stevenage from a point in line with the eastern boundary of No.164 Torquay Crescent south westwards and north westwards for a distance of approximately 40m.
An alternative route will be via the footpath situated between No.164 and No.176 Torquay Crescent, the footpath situated on the north side of Nos.2-18 and Nos.1-15 Torquay Crescent, the footpath situated on the east side of Nos.17-23 Torquay Crescent, the footpath situated on the north side of Nos.27-35 Torquay Crescent, Torquay Crescent, the footpath situated on the east side of No.95 Torquay Crescent, the footpath situated on the east side of Nos.71-77 Torquay Crescent and the footpath situated on the south side of Nos.5-17 Brixham Close.

the footpath situated on the south west side of No.9 Masefield, Hitchin from a point in line with the north west boundary of No.9 Masefield south eastwards for a distance of approximately 33m.
An alternative route will be via the footway situated on the south east side of Masefield and the footway situated on the north west side of Tennyson Avenue.
The Order is needed because works are proposed to be executed on or near the Footpaths.
If the Order is made, it shall come into force on 26 May 2025 for a period of up to 6 months. However, the restrictions specified shall only take effect at the times indicated by signs on or near the Footpaths.

(TEMPORARY CLOSING AND TEMPORARY WAITING RESTRICTIONS IN DRAPERS WAY AND LETCHMORE ROAD, STEVENAGE) ORDER 2025
NOTICE is given that Hertfordshire County Council intends to make an Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, to prohibit all vehicular traffic from using the following lengths of roads (“the Roads”), except for access and to prohibit all vehicles from waiting at any time on both sides of these lengths of Roads whilst works are in progress:-

that length of Drapers Way, Stevenage from its junction with Primett Road north eastwards to its junction with High Street, a distance of approximately 60m.
An alternative route will be via High Street, A602 (James Way/Lytton Way) and Primett Road or via Primett Road, A602 Lytton Way, Trinity Way and High Street.

that length of Letchmore Road, Stevenage from its junction with High Street south eastwards for a distance of approximately 74m.
An alternative route will be via High Street, Walkern Road and Letchmore Road or via Letchmore Road, Sish Lane, Trinity Road and High Street.
The Order is needed because works are proposed to be executed on or near the Roads.
If the Order is made, it shall come into force on 29 May 2025 for a period of up to 18 months. However, the restrictions specified shall only take effect at the times indicated by signs on or near the Roads.

NOTICE is given that Hertfordshire County Council has made the above Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, to prohibit all pedestrians from using the following lengths of footpath (“the Footpaths”):-

the footpath situated on the south east side of Nos.28–34 Baron Court, Stevenage from its junction with Baron Court north eastwards for a distance of approximately 55m.
There is no alternative route available for pedestrians when the works are being carried out. However pedestrian access to properties along this footpath will be maintained whenever possible throughout the duration of the works.

the footpath situated on the north side of No.28 and No.27 Baron Court, Stevenage from a point in line with the eastern boundary of No.28 Baron Court north westwards, south westwards, north westwards and south westwards for a distance of approximately 108m.

An alternative route will be via the footway situated on the north east and south west sides of Baron Court, the footway situated on the north east side of Ingleside Drive, Stevenage Restricted Byway No.057 and the footway situated on the south west side of A602 Hitchin Road.

(TEMPORARY TRAFFIC MANAGEMENT MEASURES ON VARIOUS ROADS IN STEVENAGE AND THE SUBWAY SITUATED BENEATH BRIDGE ROAD WEST, STEVENAGE) ORDER 2025
NOTICE is given that Hertfordshire County Council has made the above Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, the effect of which will be:-

To prohibit all vehicular traffic from using the following lengths of roads (“the Roads”), except for access and to prohibit all vehicles from waiting at any time on both sides of these lengths of Roads whilst works are in progress:–
a) that length of Almonds Lane, Stevenage from its junction with Grace Way north westwards to its junction with Weston Road, a distance of approximately 755m.
An alternative route will be via Grace Way, A1155 Fairlands Way, A602 Lytton Way, B197 North Road and Rectory Lane or via Rectory Lane, B197 North Road, A602 (High Street/James Way/Lytton Way), A1155 Fairlands Way and Grace Way.
b) that length of Featherston Road, Stevenage from its junction with Shephall Way north eastwards to its junction with Chertsey Rise, a distance of approximately 346m.
An alternative route will be via Shephall Way, Bandley Rise and Chertsey Rise.
c) that length of St Albans Drive, Stevenage from its junction with St Albans Link south westwards and north westwards for its entire length, a distance of approximately 458m.
There is no alternative route available for vehicles when the works are being carried out. However vehicular access to properties in this road will be maintained whenever possible throughout the duration of the works.
d) that length of St Albans Link, Stevenage from its junction with Weston Road north eastwards to its junction with Great Ashby Way, a distance of approximately 106m.
An alternative route will be via Weston Road, Almonds Lane, Grace Way, Canterbury Way and Great Ashby Way.
e) that length of Ingleside Drive, Stevenage from its junction with the Coreys Mill Lane/A602 Hitchin Road roundabout south westwards, north westwards, south eastwards and north eastwards for its entire length.
There is no alternative route available for vehicles when the works are being carried out. However vehicular access to properties in this road will be maintained whenever possible throughout the duration of the works.
f) that length of Ansell Court, Stevenage from its junction with Ingleside Drive north eastwards for its entire length.
There is no alternative route available for vehicles when the works are being carried out. However vehicular access to properties in this road will be maintained whenever possible throughout the duration of the works.
g) that length of Constantine Close, Stevenage from its junction with Bader Close north eastwards, south eastwards, north eastwards and south westwards for its entire length.
There is no alternative route available for vehicles when the works are being carried out. However vehicular access to properties in this road will be maintained whenever possible throughout the duration of the works.

To prohibit all subway users from using the subway situated beneath Bridge Road West, Stevenage from its junction with the footpath situated on the south east side of Bridge Road West north westwards, south westwards, north westwards, north eastwards and north westwards for a distance of approximately 93m (“the Subway”).
An alternative route will be via the footpath situated on the south east side of Bridge Road West, the footway situated on the west side of Torquay Crescent and the footpath fronting Nos.2–18 Torquay Crescent.
The Order is needed because works are proposed to be executed on or near the Roads and Subway.
The Order has been made and shall come into force on 12 May 2025 for a period of up to 18 months. However, the restrictions specified shall only take effect at the times indicated by signs on or near the Roads and Subway.

(TEMPORARY CLOSING OF THE CYCLE TRACK/FOOTPATH SITUATED ON THE NORTH WEST SIDE OF ‘BLAKENEY HOUSE’, STEVENAGE) ORDER 2025
NOTICE is given that Hertfordshire County Council has made the above Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, to prohibit all pedal cycles and pedestrians from using the cycle track/footpath situated on the north west side of ‘Blakeney House’, Stevenage from the footpath situated on the north side of No.50 Minehead Way north eastwards for a distance of approximately 45m (“the Cycle Track/Footpath”).
An alternative route will be via the footpath situated on the north side of No.50 Minehead Way, the footpath situated between No.50 and No.53 Minehead Way, the footway situated on the south side of Minehead Way and the cycle track/footpath situated on the north east side of No.49 Minehead Way.
The Order is needed because the installation of a new sub station is proposed to be executed on or near the Cycle Track/Footpath.
The Order has been made and shall come into force on 12 May 2025 for a period of up to 6 months. However, the restrictions specified shall only take effect at the times indicated by signs on or near the Cycle Track/Footpath.

that length of Bassus Green, Walkern from its junction with Bassus Green Road south westwards, south eastwards and southwards to its junction with Clay End Road, a distance of approximately 778m.
An alternative route will be via Bassus Green and Clay End Road.

that length of Clay End Road, Walkern from its easternmost junction with Bassus Green south eastwards for its entire length.
There is no alternative route available for vehicles when the works are being carried out. However vehicular access to properties in this road will be maintained whenever possible throughout the duration of the works.

the footpath leading to No.45 and No.63 Keats Way, Hitchin from its junction with Keats Way north eastwards for a distance of approximately 48m.
An alternative route will be via the footway situated on the north east and south west sides of Keats Way.
