Essex, Multiple Roads, Temporary Closures Due To Various Works

What is happening?

(Back Lane, Nazeing) (Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2025

Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council intends, not less than seven days from the date of this notice, to make the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.

Effect of the order: To temporarily close the length of Back Lane, Nazeing in the District of Epping Forest, from a point approximately 55m west of its junction with Betts Lane for a distance of approximately 45m in a westerly direction. The closure is scheduled to commence on 20th June 2025 for 4 days, or where stated on a valid permit (WX04010525015 – Affinity Water). The scheduled dates may vary for these works with appropriate signs showing and/or displayed on site. The closure is required for the safety of the public and workforce while new repair works are undertaken by Affinity Water.

An alternative route is available via Back Lane and vice versa.

The Order will come into effect on 15th May 2025 and may continue in force for 18 months or until the works have been completed, whichever is the earlier.

(Ongar Road, Lambourne) (Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) (Gravel Lane, Chigwell) (Temporary Suspension of 7.5 Tonne Weight Restriction) Order 2025

Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council intends, not less than seven days from the date of this notice, to make the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.

Effect of the order:

  1. To temporarily close that length of Ongar Road, Lambourne in the District of Epping Forest, from a point approximately 55m north east of its junction with New Farm Drive for a distance of approximately 210m in a north easterly direction.

  2. To temporarily suspend the 7.5T weight restriction in that length of Gravel Lane, Chigwell in the District of Epping Forest, from its junction with Abridge Road to its junction with Pudding Lane as cited “The Epping Forest District (Roding Valley Area) (Weight and Width Restrictions) Order 1992” for the duration of the above closure only.

The closure/restriction is scheduled to commence on 18th May 2025 for 1 day, or where stated on a valid permit (EC30002862111 – UK Power Networks). The scheduled dates may vary with appropriate signage giving advanced warning. The closure/restriction is required for the safety of the public and workforce while works are undertaken by UK Power Networks.

An alternative route is available via A113, A128, A12, A1112 and vice versa.

The Order will come into effect on 15th May 2025 and may continue in force for 18 months or until the works have been completed, whichever is the earlier.

(Stapleford Road, Stapleford Abbotts) (Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) & (Gravel Lane, Chigwell) (Temporary Suspension of 7.5 Tonne Weight Restriction) Order 2025

Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council intends, not less than seven days from the date of this notice, to make the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.

Effect of the order:

  1. To temporarily close that length of Stapleford Road, Stapleford Abbotts in the District of Epping Forest, from a point approximately 465m north east of its junction with Oak Hill Road for a distance of approximately 530m in a north easterly direction.

  2. To temporarily suspend the 7.5T weight restriction in that length of Gravel Lane, Chigwell in the District of Epping Forest, from its junction with Abridge Road to its junction with Pudding Lane as cited “The Epping Forest District (Roding Valley Area) (Weight and Width Restrictions) Order 1992” for the duration of the above closure only.

The closure/restriction is scheduled to commence on 18th May 2025 for 1 day, or where stated on a valid permit (EP2032101900 – Stour Valley Traffic Management). The scheduled dates may vary with appropriate signage giving advanced warning. The closure/restriction is required for the safety of the public and workforce while works are undertaken by Stour Valley Traffic Management.

An alternative route is available via Ongar Road, Market Place, London Road, Abridge Road, Abridge Road Roundabout, Gravel Lane, Romford Road, Hainault Road, Collier Row Road, Chase Cross Road and vice versa (with access only into Havering Road, Orange Tree Hill, North Road, Oak Hill Road, Stapleford Road).

The Order will come into effect on 15th May 2025 and may continue in force for 18 months or until the works have been completed, whichever is the earlier.

(Upland Road, Epping) (Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2025

Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council intends, not less than seven days from the date of this notice, to make the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.

Effect of the order: To temporarily close that length of Upland Road, Epping in the District of Epping Forest, from a point approximately 280m south west of its junction with High Road for a distance of approximately 175m in a south westerly direction. The closure is scheduled to commence on 2nd June 2025 for 5 days, or where stated on a valid permit (WX0401062646/AP – Affinity Water). The scheduled dates may vary for these works with appropriate signs showing and/or displayed on site/network. The closure is required for the safety of the public and workforce while new water supply works are undertaken by Affinity Water.

An alternative route is available via Upland Road, High Road, Thorndon Road, Palmers Hill, Lindsey Street, Epping Road and vice versa.

The Order will come into effect on 15th May 2025 and may continue in force for 18 months or until the works have been completed, whichever is the earlier.

(Downhall Road, Harlow) (Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2025

Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council intends, not less than seven days from the date of this notice, to make the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.

Effect of the order: To temporarily close the length of Downhall Road, Harlow in the District of Harlow, from its junction with Kingston Farm Road for a distance of approximately 270m in a north easterly direction. The closure is scheduled to commence on 21st May 2025 for 3 days, or where stated on a valid permit (WX0401062556C – Affinity Water). The scheduled dates may vary for these works with appropriate signs showing and/or displayed on site/network. The closure is required for the safety of the public and workforce while new water supply works are undertaken by Affinity Water.

An alternative route is available via Matching Road, Sheering Road, Hatfield Heath Road, Stortford Road, Gilden Way, Moor Hall Road, Matching Green Road, Matching Road and vice versa.

The Order will come into effect on 15th May 2025 and may continue in force for 18 months or until the works have been completed, whichever is the earlier.

(Laundry Lane, Nazeing) (Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2025

Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council has made the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.

Effect of the order: To temporarily close the length of Laundry Lane, Nazeing in the District of Epping Forest from its junction with St Leonards Road for a distance of approximately 200m in a south easterly then north easterly direction. The closure is scheduled to commence on 19th May 2025 for 5 days, or where stated on a valid permit (MX06596952/AP – Affinity Water). The scheduled dates may vary for these works with appropriate signs showing and/or displayed on site/network. The closure is required for the safety of the public and workforce while new water supply works are undertaken by Affinity Water.

An alternative route is available via St Leonards Road, Waltham Road, Laundry Lane and vice versa.

The Order will come into effect on 1st May 2025 and may continue in force for 18 months or until the works have been completed, whichever is the earlier.

(Manor Road, Lambourne) (Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2025

Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council has made the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.

Effect of the order: To temporarily close that length of Manor Road, Lambourne in the District of Epping Forest, from its junction with Hook Lane to its junction with New Road a distance approximately 560m. The closure is scheduled to commence on 19th May 2025 for 1 day, or where stated on a valid permit (BC008PHT4226612330320324 – Openreach). The scheduled dates may vary for these works with appropriate signs showing and/or displayed on site/network. The closure is required for the safety of the public and workforce while pole testing works are undertaken by Openreach.

An alternative route is available via Bournebridge Lane, Oak Hill Road, North Road, Orange Tree Hill, Havering Road, Chase Cross Road, Collier Row Road, Hog Hill Road, Romford Road, Lambourne Road, Manor Road and vice versa.

The Order came into effect on 1st May 2025 and may continue in force for 18 months or until the works have been completed, whichever is the earlier.

(Powdermill Lane, Waltham Abbey) (Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2025

Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council has made the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.

Effect of the order: To temporarily close that length of Powdermill Lane, Waltham Abbey in the District of Epping Forest, from a point approximately 15m south of its junction with Powdermill Mews for a distance of approximately 20m in a south westerly direction. The closure is scheduled to commence on 23rd May 2025 for 1 day, or where stated on a valid permit (MU028000283744-00000002 – Thames Water). The scheduled dates may vary for these works with appropriate signs showing and/or displayed on one.network. The closure is required for the safety of the public and workforce while permanent reinstatement works are undertaken by Thames Water.

No alternative route is available.

The Order came into effect on 1st May 2025 and may continue in force for 18 months or until the works have been completed, whichever is the earlier.

(School Lane, Ongar) (Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2025

Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council has made the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.

Effect of the order: To temporarily close that length of School Lane, Ongar in the District of Epping Forest, from a point approximately 230m north west of its junction with Three Horseshoes Lane for a distance of approximately 30m in a north westerly direction. The closure is scheduled to commence on 21st May 2025 for 3 days, or where stated on a valid permit (BC006WD10500014309764-01 – Openreach). The scheduled dates may vary for these works with appropriate signs showing and/or displayed on one.network. The closure is required for the safety of the public and workforce while new repair works are undertaken by Openreach.

An alternative route is available via Birds Green, Dunmow Road and vice versa.

The Order came into effect on 1st May 2025 and may continue in force for 18 months or until the works have been completed, whichever is the earlier.

(Various Roads, District of Epping Forest) (Temporary Prohibition of Traffic & Temporary Introduction of a Clearway) (No.8) Order 2025

Notice is hereby given that Essex County Council has made the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.

Effect of the order:

  1. To temporarily close those lengths of road in the District of Epping Forest as specified in Schedule 1 to this Order.

  2. A temporary “No Waiting, No Loading and No Stopping” restriction will be introduced on both sides of carriageway on the above length of road and those in schedule 2 during the duration of the closure to facilitate the works. Signs will be installed indicating when the No Waiting restriction will be in force.

The Essex County Council (Epping Forest District) (Prohibition of Waiting, Loading and Stopping) and (On Street Parking Places) (Civil Enforcement Area) Consolidation Order 2019 will be temporarily amended to include the temporary “No Waiting, No Loading and No Stopping at Any Time” restriction and suspend any existing parking and waiting restrictions on the above length of road(s). All other restrictions and exemptions contained in the aforementioned Order and Amendments to that Order shall remain in force.

The works being undertaken will take place within an 18-month period from 1st May 2025, exact dates will be specified on one.network. The road will be closed to facilitate pole testing and works and then re-opened to the public as needed. Access will be maintained for emergency services. Diversion route will be signed at each location and vehicle users are advised to take extra care on the highway and check advanced warning signs on the road.
