What is happening?

Manchester City Council
Temporary Road Traffic Regulation Order
Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 Section 14 (As Amended)

Notice is hereby given that the City Council intends, not less than seven days from the date of this Notice, to make the following Temporary One Way Traffic Order(s):

ORDER NO. MCC143249476: The City of Manchester (Hulme High Street, Hulme Ward)(Temporary One Way Vehicular Traffic) Order 2025 under s14 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.

The effect of the Order is to make Hulme High Street One Way at the junction of hulme high street/ Moss Lane East(permitted direction of travel is southbound onto Moss Lane East).

The alternative routes for traffic will be: Moss Lane East, Princess Road, Greenheys Lane West, Hulme High Street. 

The City Council is satisfied that this restriction is necessary in order to complete Gas Main Replacement. It is expected that the works will be in progress from 12th May 2025 to 26th May 2025. 

The Order shall come into operation on 12th May 2025 and may remain in force for a maximum period of eighteen months. 


If all necessary works are completed within a shorter period, the Order shall cease to have effect at the end of that shorter period. Notice is hereby given that the City Council has made the following Temporary Road Traffic Order(s):

ORDER NO. MCC143250915: The City of Manchester (Pepperhill Road, Moss Side Ward) (Temporary Prohibition of Vehicular Traffic) Order 2025 under s14 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984. 

The effect of the Order is to prohibit vehicular traffic on Pepperhill Road. The alternative routes for traffic will be: Moss Lane East, Alexandra Road, Quinney Crescent. 

The City Council is satisfied that this prohibition is necessary in order to facilitate Gas Main Replacement. It is expected that the works will be in progress from 12th May 2025 to 27th May 2025. 

The order shall come into operation on 12th May 2025 and may remain in force for a maximum period of eighteen months. 

If all necessary works are completed within a shorter period, the Order shall cease to have effect at the end of that shorter period.
