What is happening?

Essex County Council

(Aubrey Close and Hobbs Way, Earls Colne)

(20mph Zone) Order 2025

Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council has made the above Order under Sections 84(1)(a) and (2) and Parts III of Schedule 9 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 (as amended).

Effect of the order: To introduce a ‘20mph Zone’ on the following lengths of road, Earls Colne in the District of Braintree as specified:

Aubrey Close, Earls ColneFrom its junction with Station Road for its entire length (including lay-bys and turning heads).
Hobbs Way, Earls ColneFrom its junction with Aubrey Close for its entire length (including lay-bys and turning heads).
 

Date of operation: The Order will come into operation on 12 May 2025

(Factory Lane East, Halstead)

(Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2025

Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council intends, not less than seven days from the date of this notice, to make the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.

Effect of the order: To temporarily close that length of Factory Lane East, Halstead in the District of Braintree, from a point approximately 15m north west of its junction with Vicarage Meadow for a distance of approximately 20m in a north westerly direction. The closure is scheduled to commence on 2nd June 2025 for 10 days, or where stated on a valid permit (EC30017559487 – UK Power Networks). The scheduled dates may vary for these works with appropriate signs showing and/or displayed on one.network. The closure is required for the safety of the public and workforce while new connection works are undertaken by UK Power Networks.

No alternative route is available for this closure.

The Order will come into effect on 15th May 2025 and may continue in force for 18 months or until the works have been completed, whichever is the earlier.

(Mill Bridge, Halstead)

(Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2025

Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council intends, not less than seven days from the date of this notice, to make the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.

Effect of the order: To temporarily close that length of Mill Bridge, Halstead in the District of Braintree, from a point approximately 95m north east of its junction with Factory Lane East for a distance approximately 60m in a north easterly then north westerly and south easterly direction. The closure is scheduled to commence on 2nd June 2025 for 10 days, or where stated on a valid permit (EC30088798240 – UK Power Networks). The scheduled dates may vary for these works with appropriate signs showing and/or displayed on one.network. The closure is required for the safety of the public and workforce while new connection works are undertaken by UK Power Networks.

No alternative route is available for this closure.

The Order will come into effect on 15th May 2025 and may continue in force for 18 months or until the works have been completed, whichever is the earlier.

(Swan Street, Sible Hedingham)

(Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2025

Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council intends, not less than seven days from the date of this notice, to make the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.

Effect of the order: To temporarily close that length of Swan Street, Sible Hedingham in the District of Braintree, from its junction with Alexandra Road for a distance of approximately 50m in a southerly direction. The closure is scheduled to commence on 8th June 2025 for 1 day, or where stated on a valid permit (AD01310782073 – Anglian Water). The scheduled dates may vary for these works with appropriate signs showing and/or displayed on one.network. The closure is required for the safety of the public and workforce while new connection works are undertaken by Anglian Water.

An alternative route is available via Halstead Road, Halstead Road – A1124, Hedingham Road, Market Hill, Head Street, Sudbury Road, Catley Cross, Long Gardens, Sudbury Road, Sudbury Road – Bulmer Tye – A131, Bulmer Tye, Ballingdon Hill, Ballingdon Street, Cross Street, Stour Street, Gregory Street, Gainsborough Road, Gainsborough Street, Melford Road, A134 Long Melford Bypass, High Street, Westgate Street, Windmill Hill, Clare Road, Lower Road, Melford Road, Lower Street, High Street, The Green, Poole Street, Stour Street, Clare Road, Cavendish Road, Market Hill, Well Lane, Nethergate Street, Stoke Road, Clare Road, Moor Hall Road, Mill Green, School Green, The Street, Chapel Street, Baythorne End, Mill Road and vice versa following one way at Girling Street, King Street, Market Hill (with access only into Baythorne End, Ridgewell Road, Four Ash Hill, The Causeway, Chapel Road, Mill Road, Ridgewell Road, Church Road, High Street, Poole Street, Hedingham Road, Yeldham Road, Crouch Green, Yeldham Road, Swan Street, Potter Street and Queen Street).

The Order will come into effect on 15th May 2025 and may continue in force for 18 months or until the works have been completed, whichever is the earlier.

(Foundry Lane/Park Lane & Hayhouse Road, Earls Colne) (Temporary Prohibition of Traffic)

& (Park Lane/Hayhouse Road & Curds Road, Earls Colne) (Temporary Suspension of Weight Restriction) Order 2025

Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council has made the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.

Effect of the order:

  1. To temporarily close that length of Foundry Lane, Earls Colne in the District of Braintree, from its junction with Massingham Drive for a distance of approximately 125m in a south easterly then southerly direction and from its junction with Hayhouse Road for a distance of approximately 55m in a northerly direction.

  2. To temporarily close that length of Park Lane, Earls Colne in the District of Braintree, from its junction with Foundry Lane to its junction with Park Lane Close a distance of approximately 120m.

  3. To temporarily close that length of Hayhouse Road, Earls Colne in the District of Braintree, from its junction with Foundry Lane to its junction with Thomas Bell Road a distance of approximately 100m.

  4. To temporarily suspend the 7.5 tonne weight restriction in that length of Park Lane, Earls Colne in the District of Braintree from its junction with Park Lane Close to its junctions with Church Hill as detailed in the ‘Essex County Council (Various Roads, Earls Colne) (Weight Restriction) Order 1999’.

  5. To temporarily suspend the 7.5 tonne weight restriction in that length of Hayhouse Road, Earls Colne in the District of Braintree from its junction with Thomas Bell Road to its junction with Curds Road as detailed in the ‘Essex County Council (Various Roads, Earls Colne) (Weight Restriction) Order 1999’.

    1. To temporarily suspend the 7.5 tonne weight restriction in that length of Curds Road, Earls Colne in the District of Braintree, from its junction with Newhouse Road to its junction with Coggeshall Road as detailed in the ‘Essex County Council (Various Roads, Earls Colne) (Weight Restriction) Order 1999’.

    The closures/suspensions are scheduled to commence on 19th May 2025 for 19 days, and again from 9th June 2025 for 19 days or where stated on a valid permit (AZ5011001408444/47/48 & 49 – Cadent). The scheduled dates may vary for these works with appropriate signs showing and/or displayed on one.network. The closures/suspensions are required for the safety of the public and workforce while mains replacement works are undertaken by Cadent.

    An alternative route is available via Park Lane, High Street, Massingham Drive and vice versa or Park Lane, Church Hill, Coggeshall Road, Curds Road, Hayhouse Road and vice versa.

    The Order came into effect on 1st May 2025 and may continue in force for 18 months or until the works have been completed, whichever is the earlier.
