Dorset - Multiple Temporary Road Closures due to Works

What is happening?

Temporary Traffic Management Order of West Stafford Road, West Stafford

DORSET COUNCIL has made an Order under Section 14 [1] of the Road Traffic Regulations Act 1984, as amended. The Order is needed in order to comply with health and safety regulations, which require the provision of safe working areas and to minimise the likelihood of danger to highway users. It will come into operation on 15 May 2025 between 0900 and 1600 and will remain in force for 18 months, however, it is anticipated that the works will be completed by 22 May 2025.

This Order will enable Dorset Council to carry out essential highway maintenance works.

The effect of this Order will be:

[1] To impose temporary road closure on West Stafford Road, between its junction with West Stafford Bypass and its junction with Barton Close.

[2] To impose temporary clearway on West Stafford Road, between its junction with West Stafford Bypass and its junction with Barton Close, to prevent vehicles stopping except those associated with the works.

Please note that any vehicle waiting in contravention of temporary parking restrictions may be removed under the provisions of the Removal and Disposal of Vehicles Regulations 1986. If a vehicle has been removed, the owner must contact the Council’s vehicle recovery contractor: Ashleywood Recovery Ltd/Bride Valley Recovery Ltd on 01305 889421.

A locally signed diversion route will be put in place to enable traffic to travel around the closed sections.

Temporary Closure of Cattistock Road, Maiden Newton

DORSET COUNCIL has made an Order under Section 14 [1] of the Road Traffic Regulations Act 1984, as amended. All vehicles will be prohibited from proceeding along Cattistock Road, Maiden Newton between Quarter Cottage and a point approximately 165 metres north. The Order is needed in order to comply with health and safety regulations, which require the provision of safe working areas and to minimise the likelihood of danger to highway users. It will come into operation on 14 May 2025 and will remain in force for 18 months, however it is anticipated that the works will be completed by 13 June 2025.

This Order will enable BCL Groundworks, safe access to install foul sewer and new manhole.

An alternative route will be signed using; West End - Charity Bottom - A37 - Norden Lane

Temporary Traffic Management Order, Queens Avenue, Dorchester

DORSET COUNCIL intend, not less than seven days from the date of this notice to make an Order under Section 14 [1] of the Road Traffic Regulations Act 1984, as amended. The Order is needed in order to comply with health and safety regulations which require the provision of safe working areas and to minimise the likelihood of danger to highway users. It will come into operation on 27 May 2025 and will remain in force for 18 months, however, the works will be completed in two phases, 27 May - 1 June 2025 & 22 October - 2 November 2025.

This Order will enable Dorset Council to carry out drainage improvement works.

The effect of the Order will be:

[1] To impose temporary road closure on Queens Avenue between its junctions with Weymouth Avenue and Lime Close

[2] To impose temporary clearway on Queens Avenue between its junctions with Weymouth Avenue and Lime Close to prevent vehicles from stopping except those associated with the works.

Temporary Closure of Fair Mile Road, Bryanston

DORSET COUNCIL intend, not less than seven days from the date of this notice to make an Order under Section 14 [1] of the Road Traffic Regulations Act 1984, as amended. All vehicles, cyclists and horse riders will be prohibited from proceeding along Fair Mile Road, Bryanston at its junction with Dorchester Hill as indicated by signage on site. The Order is needed in order to comply with health and safety regulations which require the provision of safe working areas and to minimise the likelihood of danger to highway users. It will come into operation on 2 June 2025 and will remain in force for 18 months, however it is anticipated that the works will be completed by 25 July 2025.

This Order will enable M&J Evans Construction Ltd to carry out footway and carriageway alteration and development works.

A locally signed diversion route will be put in place to enable traffic to travel around the closed sections.

Temporary Closure of West End, Spetisbury

DORSET COUNCIL has made an Order under Section 14 [1] of the Road Traffic Regulations Act 1984, as amended. All vehicles, cyclists and horse riders will be prohibited from proceeding along West End, Spetisbury between Spetisbury Primary School and The Glebe, a distance of approximately 1020 metres. The order is needed in order to comply with health and safety regulations, which require the provision of safe working areas and to minimise the likelihood of danger to highway users. It will come into operation on 19 May 2025 and will remain in force for 18 months, however it is anticipated that the works will be completed by 6 June 2025.

This Order will enable Wessex Internet, safe access to carry out fibre cabling installation works.

There will be no signed alternative route on this occasion, however access will be maintained.
