Wiltshire – Multiple Traffic Notices, Temporary Road Closures and Prohibition of Stopping Orders
What is happening?
SECTION 14(1) OF THE ROAD TRAFFIC REGULATION ACT 1984
Notice is hereby given that the Wiltshire Council intends to make Orders to close temporarily to all traffic:
A) Castle Street (Part), Salisbury; from its junction with A36 to its junction with Hamilton Road to enable Network Rail Infrastructure Ltd to carry out railway bridge repairs and associated works. Alternative route northbound via A36 – A338 – Exeter Street – St Johns Street – New Canal – High Street – Silver Street – Minster Street – Castle Street (unaffected length).
Alternative route southbound via Castle Street (unaffected length) – Blue Boar Row – Winchester Street – Brown Street – St Anns Street – Exeter Street – A338 – A36. This Order will come into operation on 06 June 2025 and the closure will be required between the hours of 22:00 and 06:00 for 3 nights. B) UC 993103 (Part), Teffont; for a distance of approximately 100m covering the level crossing to enable Network Rail Infrastructure Ltd to carry out level crossing and associated works.
No alternative route is available. This Order will come into operation on 07 June 2025 and the closure will be required between the hours of 23:00 and 07:00 1 night. For further information please contact Centurion Traffic Management on behalf of Network Rail Infrastructure Ltd on 0113 277 5360.
C) C336 (Part), Clarendon Park and Alderbury; from its junction with C324 to its junction with Silver Street to enable Wiltshire Council to carry out verge overrun and associated works. Alternative route via C336 (unaffected length) – Folly Lane – C324 – C336 (unaffected length) and vice versa. This Order will come into operation on 02 June 2025 and the closure will be required between the hours of 07:00 and 17:00 until 06 June 2025. D) C324 (Part), Clarendon Road (Part), Alderbury and Grimstead; from its junction with Winchesters Meadow to its junction with Lucwood Lane to enable Scottish and Southern Power Distribution to carry out tree cutting and associated works. Alternative route via Green Drove – Crockford Road – Grimstead Road – Old Southampton Road – Clarendon Road (unaffected length) and vice versa. This Order will come into operation on 02 June 2025 and the closure will be required between the hours of 09:30 and 15:30 for 1 day. Notice is hereby given that the Wiltshire Council has made Orders to close temporarily to all traffic:
E) Hatchett Hill, Chute; from its junction with Hookwood Lane to its junction with C262 to enable Wiltshire Council to carry out urgent tree safety works. Alternative route via C262 – C263 – A342 – Appleshaw – Hookwood Lane and vice versa. This Order will come into operation on 12 May 2025 and the closure will be required between the hours of 09:00 and 15:30 for 5 days. F) B3083 (Part), Berwick St James; from outside its property known as The Flat Goose for a distance of approximately 50m in a 50m in a south easterly direction to enable Wiltshire Council to carry out reconstruction works on the bridge. Alternative route via B3083 (unaffected length) – A36 – A303 – B3083 (unaffected length) and vice versa. This Order will come into operation on 12 May 2025 and the closure will be required between the hours of 08:00 and 17:00 until 11 July 2025. G) C323 (Part), West Dean; for a distance of approximately 20m either side of the level crossing to enable Network Rail Infrastructure Ltd to carry out works at Dean Station level crossings. Alternative route via C323 (unaffected length) – East Tytherley Road – Coach Road – C323 (unaffected length) and vice versa. This Order which previously came into operation on 27 January 2025 will now recommence on 11 May 2025 and the closure will be required for 1 day. For further information please contact Centurion on 0113 2775360. Orders A) to F) will have a maximum duration of 18 months, Order G) has a maximum duration of 18 months.
The closures and diversion routes will be clearly indicated by traffic signs. It is anticipated that the works will take the stated duration to complete depending upon weather conditions. Access will be maintained for residents and businesses where possible, although delays are likely due to the nature of the works.

Notice is hereby given that Wiltshire Council proposes to make the above Orders under the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 and the Traffic Management Act 2004 the effect of which will be to introduce
No stopping Mon-Fri 8am – 6pm on entrance markings (school keep clear) on the following lengths of road:
St Thomas Way, Bishopdown, Laverstock and Ford – southern side – from a point 14.5 metres east of its junction with Pilgrim’s Mead to a point 23 metres west of that junction.
High Road, Britford – southern side – from a point 34.5 metres east of the vehicular access to Longford Primary School to a point 17.5 metres west of that junction.
Newton Tony (outside Newton Tony C of E Primary School) – eastern side – from a point 42.9 metres south of its junction with Station Road to a point 7.8 metres north of that junction.
Copies of the draft Orders, plans and Statement of the Council’s Reasons for proposing to make the Orders may be inspected at the offices of Wiltshire Council, County Hall, Bythesea Road, Trowbridge during normal office hours. Details of the proposed scheme may be seen at Amesbury Library, Smithfield Street, Amesbury between the hours of 2pm - 7pm Monday, 9.30am - 5pm Tuesday and Friday, 9.30am - 7pm Thursday and 9.30am - 1pm Saturday and at Salisbury Library, Market Walk, Salisbury between the hours of 10am - 7pm Monday, 9am - 7pm Tuesday and Friday and 9am - 5pm Wednesday, Thursday and Saturday until 2 June 2025.
