West Berkshire - Multiple Temporary Road Closures due to Utility Works

What is happening?

WEST BERKSHIRE DISTRICT COUNCIL

UNDER SECTION 14/1 OF THE ROAD TRAFFIC REGULATION ACT 1984

WEST BERKSHIRE DISTRICT COUNCIL (THE COUNCIL)

INTENDS TO MAKE ORDERS AS FOLLOWING

(WINDMILL ROAD, STRATFIELD MORTIMER)

(TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) ORDER 2025

The Council has made an Order the effect of which will be to prohibit any vehicle from proceeding in any direction over Windmill Road in Stratfield Mortimer between its junction with Briar Lea Road and its junction with The Crescent.

The alternative route for all vehicles affected by the Order is via Windmill Road, Hammonds Heath Road, The Street, Victoria Road, Windmill Road and vice versa.

The purpose of this Order is to enable works to take place on or near the highway, namely for Kings Meadow Homes to install a new manhole.

The proposed Order will come into effect on 12th May 2025. It is envisaged that the closure will be in place between 12th and 26th May 2025.

(SULHAM HILL, TILEHURST)

(TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) ORDER 2025

The Council intends, not less than seven days from the date of this notice, to make an order the effect of which will be to prohibit any vehicle from proceeding in any direction over Sulham Hill in Tilehurst between its junction with Long Lane and its junction with Chapel Hill.

The alternative route for all vehicles affected by the Order is via Sulham Hill, Chapel Hill, Lower Elmstone Drive, Overdown Road, Dark Lane, Long Lane, A329 Reading Road, A329 Reading Road/Nursery Gardens Roundabout, A329 Reading Road, A329 Purley Rise, A329 Reading Road, A329 The Square, A329 High Street, A340 Church Road, A340 Tidmarsh Road, A340 The Street, A340 Road also known as Theale Road, Mill Lane and vice versa.

The purpose of this Order is to enable works to take place on or near the highway, namely for Thames Water to access their asset.

The proposed Order will come into effect on 26th May 2025. It is envisaged that the closure will be in place between 26th May and 28th May 2025.

(ASH LANE, BURGHFIELD)

(TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) ORDER 2025

The Council intends, not less than seven days from the date of this notice, to make an order the effect of which will be to prohibit any vehicle from proceeding in any direction over Ash Lane in Burghfield between its junction with Clayhill Road and its junction with Sulhamstead Road.

The alternative route for all vehicles affected by the Order is via Ash Lane, Clayhill Road, Woodmans Lane, Abbots Road, Hollybush Lane, Shortheath Lane, Sulhamstead Road, Ash Lane and vice versa.

The purpose of this Order is to enable works to take place on or near the highway, namely for Circet to replace a pole.

The proposed Order will come into effect on 28th May 2025. It is envisaged that the closure will be in place between 28th May and 30th May 2025.

Unless stated otherwise the above orders shall remain in force for a period of eighteen months, or until the works are complete, whichever is the soonest, they will not take effect until approved traffic signs have been erected. Final details of the closure can be viewed on One.Network.
