A1(M) Motorway (Junction 45 to Junction 48) - Temporary Prohibition of Traffic

THE A1(M) MOTORWAY
(JUNCTION 45 TO JUNCTION 48)
(TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF TRAFFIC)

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that National Highways Limited intends to make an Order on the A1(M) Motorway, in the Counties of North Yorkshire and West Yorkshire, to enable carriageway resurfacing, cat’s eyes replacement, white lining, structure repairs and routine works to be carried out in safety.

The works are expected to start on Wednesday 4 June 2025 for 12 weeks, or until completed, and will take place between 8pm and 6am. The effect of the Order will be to close, at times during the works, the A1(M):

(i)   northbound carriageway from the exit slip road at Junction 45 (Boston Spa) to the entry slip road at Junction 48 (Boroughbridge), a distance of 21700 metres;

(ii)  southbound carriageway from the exit slip road at Junction 48 to the entry slip road at Junction 45, a distance of 21700 metres;

(iii) northbound entry and southbound exit slip roads at Junction 45;

(iv) northbound and southbound exit and entry slip roads at Junction 46 (Wetherby), and Junction 47 (Allerton Moor); and

(v)  northbound exit and southbound entry slip roads at Junction 48.

During the closures suitably signed alternative routes will be available at all times.

Traffic signs will indicate the extent of the prohibitions (which will not apply to emergency service vehicles or vehicles being used in connection with the said works or for winter maintenance or traffic officer purposes). The Order comes into force on 3 June 2025 and has a maximum duration of eighteen months.
