What is happening?

HALTON BOROUGH COUNCIL

HALTON BOROUGH COUNCIL give notice that it has made the following Order under the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 as amended, as follows:

THE HALTON BOROUGH COUNCIL (VARIOUS SPEED LIMITS) (AMALGAMATION) (AMENDMENT NO.5 ) ORDER 2025

The effect of the Order is to:

1. Reclassify the following road names at the following locations:

a. Ashley Way West (A562) (40mph) is reclassified as Ashley Way West (A557) (40mph) between Moor Lane South (B5419) and Ashley Way (A557).

b. Ashley Way (A562) (40mph) is reclassified as Ashley Way (A557) (40mph) between Ashley Way West (A557) and Watkinson Way.

c. Queensway (A533) (30mph) is reclassified as Queensway (A557) (30mph) between Ditton Road and Bridgewater Expressway (A558).

d. Bridgewater Expressway (A533) (40mph) is reclassified as Bridgewater Expressway (A558) (40mph) between its junction with Queensway (A557) and Mersey Gateway Bridge.

e. Weston Link (40mph and 50mph) is reclassified as Weston Link Expressway (A5126) (40mph and 50mph) between Central Expressway (A533) and Weston Point Expressway (A557).

2. This Order is for the purposes of reclassifying and renaming roads, and accommodating minor kerb line changes. There are no changes to the existing speed limits and no changes to markings on the ground and associated signage.

A copy of the sealed Order to which it relates, together with a statement of the Council’s reasons for proposing to make the Order, may be inspected free of charge during normal office hours at Halton Direct Link Offices in Runcorn Shopping City, Runcorn and Brook Street, Widnes. Alternatively, it can be viewed at the following website link: www.halton.gov.uk/tro until end of 6 weeks from the date on which the Order was made.

If you wish to question the validity of the Order, or of any provision contained therein, on the grounds that it is not within the powers conferred by the Road Traffic Regulation Act of 1984, or on the grounds that any requirement of the Act, or of any instrument made under it, has not been complied with in relation to the Order, you may within 6 weeks apply to the High Court for this purpose.
