What is happening?

ROAD TRAFFIC REGULATION ACT 1984 - SECTION 14(1)(A), 5(B) AND (7) THE A120 TRUNK ROAD (HORSLEY CROSS ROUNDABOUT TO PARKESTON ROUNDABOUT, ESSEX) (TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF TRAFFIC) ORDER 2025

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that National Highways Limited(a) has made an Order on the A120 Trunk Road in Essex to enable the installation of speed camera enforcement equipment, the replacement of road signs, resurfacing and the renewal of road markings works to be carried out in safety.

The works will take place over approximately 15 weeks (8pm to 6am), starting on, or after, Monday 19 May 2025.

The effect of the Order will be to close, for 24 hours daily, all lay-bys adjacent to the A120 eastbound and westbound carriageways between the B1035 Horsley Cross Roundabout and the A136 Parkeston Roundabout for the duration of the works.

The provisions of The Essex County Council (Main Road and Clarke’s Road, Dovercourt) (Weight Restriction) Order 1993 and The Essex County Council (North East Essex) (Prohibition of Heavy Commercial Vehicles) (Variation) Order 1994 will be suspended overnight in relation to the B1035 Clacton Road, Horsley Cross and the B1352 Church Hill, Ramsey Road and Main Road, Harwich during the works to allow all vehicles to use the diversion routes.

The lay-by closures (which will not apply to emergency service, traffic officer, or works vehicles) and diversion routes will be clearly indicated by traffic signs.

The Order will come into force on 13 May 2025 and may continue in force until the works detailed above have been completed, or for a maximum duration of eighteen months, whichever is the earlier.
