Southend-on-Sea, Temporary Road Closures & Parking Restrictions Due To Gas Works
What is happening?
SOUTHEND-ON-SEA CITY COUNCIL
ROAD TRAFFIC REGULATION ACT 1984 – SECTION 14(1)
TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF TRAFFIC, PARKING, STOPPING, WAITING, LOADING AND UNLOADING ORDER 2025
HAMPTON GARDENS, BYRNE DRIVE, OAKENGARDE DRIVE, MANNERS CORNER, ASTON GARDENS, MANNERS WAY SERVICE ROAD (WEST) & MANNERS WAY
Notice is hereby given that Southend-on-Sea City Council has, as highway authority under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984:
These works will be undertaken in phases and displayed on site with dates
The Effect of the order will be to prohibit any vehicle from:
Entering and exiting Hampton Gardens at its junction with Manners Way
Entering and exiting Byrne Drive at its junction with Manners Way
Entering and exiting Oakengarde Drive at its junction with Manners Way
Entering and exiting Hampton Gardens at its junction with Manners Way
Entering and exiting Manners Corner at its junction with Manners Way
Entering and exiting Aston Gardens at its junction with Manners Way
Manners Way Service Road (West) for its whole length (Manners Way Service Road (west) from Manners Way to the double Salynd Road house.
Parking, stopping, waiting, loading or unloading on Manners Way from “Cussons Corner Roundabout” to Harp House Roundabout. (this will be in phases)

The closure is scheduled to commence from 09:30 on the 26th May 2025 until 15:30 on 8th July 2025 – or where appropriate dates are showing via advanced warning signage.
The Order will come into effect on 26th May 2025 and may continue in force for 18 months or until the works have been completed, whichever is the sooner.
The closure is required for the safety of the public and workforce as Gas Main replacement works take place.
Access for emergency vehicles, residents and pedestrians will be maintained at all times during the closure.
The prohibition of traffic will apply only during such time and extent as indicated by signs displayed on site.
The restrictions and prohibitions detailed above apply only insofar as is necessary and whilst such signs are in place.
Any vehicle waiting in contravention of any restriction/prohibition imposed by this Order may be removed or repositioned by any Civil Enforcement Officer or person authorised under the Traffic Management Act 2004.
