Edinburgh Tartan Parade - Temporary Road Closures
What is happening?
THE CITY OF EDINBURGH COUNCIL
(EDINBURGH TARTAN PARADE) (TEMPORARY ROAD
RESTRICTION AND TRAFFIC REGULATION) ORDER 2025 – TEMP/25/59
The Council, with the consent of Scottish Ministers, has made an order under the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended, the effect of which will be that for a temporary period, to facilitate the holding of the Edinburgh Tartan Parade event, no person shall: (a) drive or cause or permit to be driven any vehicle on the sections of roads specified in Sch 1, where closures will apply to roads in their entirety unless otherwise stated; & (b) except with the permission of a Parking Attendant, cause or permit any vehicle to wait or load onto or unload from any vehicle on the sections of the roads specified in Sch 2, where prohibitions will apply to both sides of the roads in their entirety unless otherwise stated. Existing parking restrictions will be suspended on the affected sections of roads described in Sch 2. The Prohibition of Motor Vehicles on High St from Lawnmarket to Nth Bridge shall be suspended for the duration of this Order. The order shall have effect on 9/5/25 to 10/5/25
during the hours specified in the Schedules.
SCHEDULE 1 ROAD CLOSURES: from 10:30 hours to 14:30 hours on 10th May 2025: (i) Lawnmarket, from George IV Bridge to High St; (ii) High St, from Lawnmarket to Nth Bridge; (iii) St. Giles St, from the High St, southwards & then eastwards to 30m east of the east kerbline of Bank St; (iv) Cockburn St; (v) Waverley Bridge; & (vi) Market St, at Cockburn St.
SCHEDULE 2 PROHIBITION OF WAITING, LOADING AND UNLOADING: from 18:30 hours on 9th May 2025 to 14:30 hours on 10th May 2025: (i) Lawnmarket, from George IV Bridge to High St; (ii) High St, from Lawnmarket to Nth Bridge; (iii) St. Giles St, from the High St, southwards & then eastwards to 30m east of the east kerbline of Bank St; (iv) Cockburn St; & (v) Waverley Bridge.
