What is happening?

Somerset Council Polden Street, Bridgwater in the Parish of Bridgwater (Temporary Traffic Restrictions) Order 2025

Somerset Council in exercise of its powers under Section 14 (1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 as amended, intends to make an Order, the effect of which will be to introduce the following temporary traffic restrictions as specified in the Schedules below. This Order will come into operation on the 20th day of May 2025 and will remain in force for eighteen months. The Works are expected to commence on the 30th day of May 2025 and last for one day (between 0800 hours and 1800 hours) to enable Circet TM on behalf of Openreach to carry out network wire rearranging works. The restrictions will only apply when indicated by traffic signs.

Schedule 1 Temporary Prohibition of Vehicles Polden Street, Bridgwater - from its junction with Wellington Road in a southerly direction for a distance of 85 metres

Schedule 2 Temporary Suspension of the One Way Polden Street, Bridgwater-from a point 85 metres south of its junction with Wellington Road to its junction with Devonshire Street

Statement of reasons for making the Order a) because works are being or are proposed to be executed on or near the road; b) because of the likelihood of danger to the public, or of serious damage to the road, which is not attributable to such works.
