Parish of Hedgeley (Public Footpaths Nos 13 & 14)
Diversion Order 2025
The above Order was made on 30th April 2025, under section 119 of the Highways Act, 1980.
The effect of the Order will be as follows:-
Public Footpath No 13 (Parish of Hedgeley)
To extinguish the footpath from a point 85 metres north-west of Shawdon Hall Dairy Cottages (O.S. Grid reference NU 0909 1460), in a south-easterly direction for a distance of 500 metres, then in a north-easterly direction for 35 metres to a point 210 metres east of Shawdon Hall (NU 0949 1431).
To create a 2 metre wide public footpath, from a point 100 metres north-west of Shawdon Hall Dairy Cottages (O.S. Grid reference NU 0912 1464), in an easterly direction for a distance of 40 metres, then in a south-easterly direction for a distance of 145 metres, then easterly for a distance of 75 metres, then in a south-easterly direction for a distance of 245 metres to a point 260 metres north-east of Shawdon Hall. Thereafter, a 2.5 metre wide footpath, in a southerly direction for a distance of 100 metres to a point marked A, 210 metres east of Shawdon Hall (NU 0949 1431).
Public Footpath No 14 (Parish of Hedgeley)
To extinguish the footpath from a point 100 metres north-west of Shawdon Hall Dairy Cottages (O.S. Grid reference NU 0912 1464), in a northerly direction for a distance of 10 metres, then in a north-easterly direction for a distance of 135 metres, then in a northerly direction for a distance of 220 metres, then in a general easterly direction for a distance of 465 metres to a point 800 metres north-east of Shawdon Hall (NU 0972 1496).
To create a 2.5 metre wide public footpath, from a point 260 metres north-east of Shawdon Hall (O.S. Grid reference NU 0952 1441), in a general northerly direction for a distance of 535 metres, then in a north-easterly direction for a distance of 70 metres, thereafter continuing as a 1.5 metre footpath for a distance of 10 metres, to a point marked E, 800 metres north-east of Shawdon Hall (NU 0972 1496).

A copy of the Order and map have been placed and may be seen free of charge at the Council Offices of the Lindisfarne Centre, Lindisfarne Road, Alnwick, NE66 1AU and at Main Reception, County Hall, Morpeth, during normal working hours. no later than 19th June 2025. Please state the grounds on which they are made.
If no such representations or objections are duly made, or if any so made are withdrawn, the Northumberland County Council may confirm the Order as an unopposed Order. If the Order is sent to the Secretary of State for the Department of the Environment, Food and Rural Affairs for confirmation any representation and objections which have not been withdrawn will be sent with the Order.
