On the 30th April 2025, the Borough Council of Bolton confirmed the above Order, made under Section 257 of the Town and Country Planning Act 1990 ("the 1990 Act") and under section 53A(2) of the Wildlife and Countryside Act 1981. The effect of the Order as confirmed is to divert:

Public Footpath No. Westhoughton 043 which leads over land situated west of Wingates Industrial Estate off Chorley Road Westhoughton Bolton BL5 3LY commencing from point A at grid reference SD64616 07556 in a generally south west by south direction to point B at grid reference SD64611 07547 for a distance of approximately 11 metres then running in a generally south by west direction to point C at grid reference SD64596 07468 for a distance of approximately 81 metres as shown by the continuous bold line between points A-B-C on the Order Plan over a total distance of approximately 92 metres and of an approximate width of 1.5 metres throughout over a natural surface.

Public Footpath No. Westhoughton 042 which leads over land situated west of Wingates Industrial Estate off Chorley Road Westhoughton Bolton BL5 3LY commencing from point C at grid reference SD64596 07468 in a generally southerly direction to point G at grid reference SD64593 07413 for a distance of approximately 54 metres then running in a generally south by west direction to point H at grid reference SD64547 07211 for a distance of approximately 209 metres then curving in a generally southwest by south direction to point I at grid reference SD64410 07034 for a distance of approximately 236 metres as shown by the continuous bold line between points C-G-H-I on the Order Plan over a total distance of approximately 499 metres and of an approximate width of 2.2 metres over a natural and hardstanding surface.

Public Footpath No. Westhoughton 033 which leads over land situated west of Wingates Industrial Estate off Chorley Road Westhoughton Bolton BL5 3LY commencing from point J at grid reference SD64319 07152 in a generally north westerly direction to point K at grid reference SD64216 07254 for a distance of approximately 150 metres then curving in a generally north westerly direction to point L at grid reference SD64157 07294 for a distance of approximately 70 metres as shown by the continuous bold line between points J-K-L on the Order Plan over a total distance of approximately 220 metres and of a width of 4 metres throughout over an ashed surface.

The definitive map and statement shall be modified accordingly. A copy of the confirmed Order and plan may be inspected free of charge at One Stop Shop, Town Hall, Bolton during office hours. Copies of the Order and Plan may be purchased. The Order will come into force on the date on which The Borough Council of Bolton certify that the terms of Article 2 of the Order have been complied with but if any person aggrieved by the Order desires to question its validity or that of any provision contained within it on the ground that it is not within the powers of the above Act, or on the ground that any requirement of the Act or of any regulation made under it has not been complied with in relation to the confirmation of the Order, he or she may apply to the High Court for any of these purposes under Section 287 of the Town and Country Planning Act 1990 within 6 weeks from the date on which notice is first published as required by paragraph 7 of Schedule 14 to the Act.
