Essex - Multiple Temporary Road Closures due to Utility and Maintenance Works

What is happening?

Essex County Council

(Crossing Road, Epping) (Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2025

Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council intends, not less than seven days from the date of this notice, to make the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.

Effect of the order: To temporarily close that length of Crossing Road, Epping in the District of Epping Forest, from a point approximately 35m north of its junction with Brook Road for a distance of approximately 15m in a northerly direction. The closure is scheduled to commence on 28th May 2025 for 7 days, or where stated on a permit (EC30039226815 – UK Power Networks). The scheduled dates may vary for these works with appropriate signs showing and/or displayed on site. Network access is required for the safety of the public and workforce while new connection works are undertaken by UK Power Networks.

An alternative route is available via Allnutts Road, Bower Hill, Brook Road and vice versa (with access only into Crossing Road).

The Order will come into effect on 8th May 2025 and may continue in force for 18 months or until the works have been completed, whichever is the earlier.

(Forest Drive, Theydon Bois) (Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2025

Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council intends, not less than seven days from the date of this notice, to make the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.

Effect of the order: To temporarily close that length of Forest Drive, Theydon Bois in the District of Epping Forest, from its junction with Dukes Avenue for a distance of approximately 10m in a southerly westerly direction. The closure is scheduled to commence on 29th May 2025 for 1 day, or where stated on a permit (MU11300332381-00000002 – Thames Water). The scheduled dates may vary for these works with appropriate signs showing and/or displayed on site. Network access is required for the safety of the public and workforce while reinstatement works are undertaken by Thames Water.

An alternative route is available via Forest Drive, Elizabeth Drive, Orchard Drive, Heath Drive, Dukes Avenue and vice versa.

The Order will come into effect on 8th May 2025 and may continue in force for 18 months or until the works have been completed, whichever is the earlier.

(Station Road, Chigwell) (Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2025

Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council intends, not less than seven days from the date of this notice, to make the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.

Effect of the order: To temporarily close that length of Station Road, Chigwell in the District of Epping Forest, from a point approximately 80m south east of its junction with High Road for a distance of approximately 40m in a south easterly direction. The closure is scheduled to commence on 27th May 2025 for 1 day, or where stated on a permit (MU11300762421-00000002 – Thames Water). The scheduled dates may vary for these works with appropriate signs showing and/or displayed on site. Network access is required for the safety of the public and workforce while manhole cover repair works are undertaken by Thames Water.

An alternative route is available via Station Road, Hainault Road, High Road, Station Road and vice versa.

The Order will come into effect on 8th May 2025 and may continue in force for 18 months or until the works have been completed, whichever is the earlier.

(Castle Street, Ongar) (Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2025

Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council has made the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.

Effect of the order: To temporarily close that length of Castle Street, Ongar in the District of Epping Forest, from its junction with High Street for a distance of approximately 20m in a southerly direction. The closure is scheduled to commence on 12th May 2025 for 5 days, or where stated on a valid permit (AZ7011001410934 – Cadent). The scheduled dates may vary for these works with appropriate signs showing and/or displayed on site. Network access is required for the safety of the public and workforce while pipe laying works are undertaken by Cadent.

No alternative route is available.

The Order came into effect on 24th April 2025 and may continue in force for 18 months or until the works have been completed, whichever is the earlier.

(London Road/Tawney Lane, Stapleford Tawney) (Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2025

Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council has made the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.

Effect of the order: To temporarily close that length of London Road/Tawney Lane, Stapleford Tawney in the District of Epping Forest, from a point approximately 295m north east of its junction with Epping Long Green to a point approximately 1330m in a north westerly then north easterly direction. The closure is scheduled to commence on 12th May 2025 for 3 days, or where stated on a valid permit (BC008WG3MJL1CSB – Openreach). The scheduled dates may vary for these works with appropriate signs showing and/or displayed on one.network. The closure is required for the safety of the public and workforce while pole testing and replacement works are undertaken by Openreach.

An alternative route is available via Tawney Lane, Tawney Common, Epping Road, Banks Lane, Mount Road, London Road and vice versa.

The Order came into effect on 24th April 2025 and may continue in force for 18 months or until the works have been completed, whichever is the earlier.

(Millers Lane, Chigwell) (Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2025

Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council has made the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.

Effect of the order: To temporarily close that length of Millers Lane, Chigwell in the District of Epping Forest from its junction with Millers Close to its junction with Gravel Lane a distance of approximately 910m. The closure is scheduled to commence on 19th May 2025 for 3 days, or where stated on a valid permit (EP201EH2383091 – Essex County Council). The scheduled dates may vary for these works with appropriate signs showing and/or displayed on one.network. The closure is required for the safety of the public and workforce while carriageway defects works are undertaken by Ringway Jacobs.

An alternative route is available via Millers Lane, Lambourne Road, Romford Road, Gravel Lane, Pudding Lane and vice versa.

The Order will come into effect on 24th April 2025 and may continue in force for 18 months or until the works have been completed, whichever is the earlier.

(Millers Green Road/Ryfield Road & Willingale Road, Willingale)

(Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2025

Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council has made the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.

Effect of the order:

1. To temporarily close that length of Millers Green Road/Ryfield Road, Willingale in the District of Epping Forest, from a point approximately 165m south east of the junction of Willingale Road for a distance of approximately 500m in a north westerly then north easterly then northerly direction.

2. To temporarily close that length of Willingale Road, Willingale in the District of Epping Forest, from its junction with Millers Green Road for a distance of approximately 335m in a north westerly then south westerly direction.

The closures are scheduled to commence on 12th May 2025 for 5 days, or where stated on a permit (EC30057817970/EC30020602700/EC30091212634 – UK Power Networks). The scheduled dates may vary for these works with appropriate signs showing and/or displayed on one.network. The closures are required for the safety of the public and workforce while overhead line repair works are undertaken by UK Power Networks.

2. Millers Green Road, Birds Green, Dukes Lane, Beech Road, The Street Fyfield Road and vice versa

The Order came into effect on 24th April 2025 and may continue in force for 18 months or until the works have been completed, whichever is the earlier.

(Pedlars End, Bobbingworth) (Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2025

Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council has made the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.

Effect of the order: To temporarily close the length of Pedlars End, Bobbingworth in the District of Epping Forest from a point of approximately 50m of its junction with Moreton Bridge for a distance of approximately 70m in a south westerly direction. The closure is scheduled to commence on 12th May 2025 for 3 days, or where stated on a valid permit (MX04410265842 – Affinity Water). The scheduled dates may vary for these works with appropriate signs showing and/or displayed on one.network. The closure is required for the safety of the public and workforce while boundary box works are undertaken by Affinity Water.

An alternative route is available via Pedlars End, Moreton Bridge, Gainsthorpe Road, Hobbs Farm Road and vice versa.

The Order came into effect on 24th April 2025 and may continue in force for 18 months or until the works have been completed, whichever is the earlier.

(Sheering Mill Lane/Sun Street, Harlow) (Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2025

Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council has made the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.

Effect of the order:

1. To temporarily close that length of Sheering Mill Lane, Harlow in the District of Epping Forest, from its junction with Four Acres to its junction with Luxford Place a distance of approximately 120m.

2. To temporarily close that length of Sun Street, Harlow in the District of Epping Forest, from its junction with Sheering Mill Lane for a distance of approximately 30m in a southerly direction.

The closures are scheduled to commence on 12th May 2025 for 1 day, or where stated on a valid permit (BC008WG3N0M4T01ETHSB & BC008WG3N0M4TETHSB – Openreach). The scheduled dates may vary for these works with appropriate signs showing and/or displayed on one.network. The closures are required for the safety of the public and workforce while pole replacement works are undertaken by Openreach.

An alternative route is available via Sheering Mill Lane, Sheering Lower Road, Hatfield Heath Road, Station Road, London Road, Bonks Mill, Brook Road, East Drive, Vantorts Road, Fairway and vice versa.

The Order came into effect on 24th April 2025 and may continue in force for 18 months or until the works have been completed, whichever is the earlier.

(The Chase, Newhall) (Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2025

Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council has made the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.

Effect of the order: To temporarily close the length of The Chase, Newhall in the District of Harlow, from its junction with London Road for a distance of approximately 40m in a south westerly direction. The closure is scheduled to commence on 12th May 2025 for 5 days, or where stated on a valid permit (MX04410263825 – Affinity Water). The scheduled dates may vary for these works with appropriate signs showing and/or displayed on one.network. The closure is required for the safety of the public and workforce while water main works are undertaken by Affinity Water.

An alternative route is available via London Road, Braggowens Ley, Great Auger Street, The Chase and vice versa.

(Toot Hill Road, Stanford Rivers) (Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2025

Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council has made the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.

Effect of the order: To temporarily close that length of Toot Hill Road, Stanford Rivers in the District of Epping Forest, from a point approximately 240m north west of its junction with Colemans Farm Lane for a distance of approximately 100m in a north westerly direction. The closure is scheduled to commence on 12th May 2025 for 2 days, or where stated on a valid permit (BC411SA001WG1R1N9Z – Openreach). The scheduled dates may vary for these works with appropriate signs showing and/or displayed on one.network. The closure is required for the safety of the public and workforce while pole replacement works are undertaken by Openreach.

An alternative route is available via Mutton Row, Toot Hill Road, Drapers Corner, Greensted Road and vice versa.

(Temporary Prohibition of Traffic & Temporary Introduction of a Clearway)

(No.7) Order 2025

Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council has made the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.

Effect of the order:

1. To temporarily close those lengths of roads in the District of Epping Forest as specified in the schedule to this Order.

2. A temporary ‘No Waiting, No Loading and No Stopping’ restriction will be introduced on both sides of carriageway on the above lengths of roads to facilitate the works. Signs will be installed indicating when the No Waiting, No Loading and No Stopping restriction will be in force.

“The Essex County Council (Epping Forest District) (Prohibition of Waiting, Loading and Stopping) and (On Street Parking Places) (Civil Enforcement Area) Consolidation Order 2019” will be temporarily amended to include the temporary ‘No Waiting, No Loading and No Stopping at Any Time’ restriction and suspend any existing parking and waiting restrictions on the above lengths of roads only. All other restrictions and exemptions contained in the aforementioned Order and Amendments to that Order shall remain in force.

The works being undertaken will operate within an 18-month period from 24th April 2025, exact dates will be specified on-site notices. The roads will be closed to facilitate each phase of works and then re-opened to the public. Access will be maintained for emergency services. Diversion route will be signed at each location and residents will be informed in writing of the dates of phase via letter/leaflet drop and advanced warning signs on the roads.
