What is happening?

HIGHWAYS

Kent County Council, acting in exercise of its powers under the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984,  makes or intends to make the following Orders.

SWALE AREA

A2 West Street, Sittingbourne, ME10 1AJ (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER MAY 2025

To allow new water connection works to be carried out, Kent County Council intends to make an Order prohibiting through traffic, eastbound only, on part of A2 West Street, Sittingbourne, from 29th May 2025, with estimated completion by 30th May 2025, or until the works have been completed.

The road will be closed eastbound only, in the vicinity of number 32, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.

The alternative route for any through traffic is via A2 West Street, A2 St Michaels Road, Crown Quay Lane, Bell Road, Avenue of Remembrance, Albany Road and Park Road.

Pedestrian access will be maintained during the works.

This closure is in conjunction with an eastbound lane closure on Dover Street.

 

Bottles Lane, Rodmersham, ME9 0LR (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER MAY 2025

To allow excavation works to be carried out, Kent County Council intends to make an Order prohibiting through traffic on part of Bottles Lane, Rodmersham, from 27th May 2025, with estimated completion by 31st May 2025, or until the works have been completed.

The road will be closed between the junction with Brownings Orchard and Rodmersham Cricket Club, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.

The alternative route for any through traffic is via Stockers Hill, Highsted Valley, Cheney Hill, Bottles Lane and vice versa.

Pedestrian access will be maintained during the works.

 

Brogdale Road, Ospringe, ME13 8XY (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER MAY 2025

To allow pole testing works to be carried out, Kent County Council intends to make an Order prohibiting through traffic on part of Brogdale Road, Ospringe, from 28th May 2025, for up to one day, between the hours of 09:30 and 15:30, or until the works have been completed.

The road will be closed between the junction with Porters Lane and the track leading to Brogdale Farm, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.

The alternative route for any through traffic is via Brogdale Road, A2 London Road, A2 Canterbury Road, A251 Ashford Road, A251 Faversham Road, A252 Canterbury Road, A252 Charing Hill, A20 Maidstone Road, A20 Ashford Road, Rayners Hill, Waterditch Lane, Warren Street, Bunce Court Road, Otterden Road, The Street, Eastling Road, Whitehill and vice versa.

Pedestrian access will be maintained during the works.

 

Callaways Lane, Newington, ME9 7LX (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER MAY 2025

To allow utility works to be carried out, Kent County Council intends to make an Order prohibiting through traffic on part of Callaways Lane, Newington, from 27th May 2025, with estimated completion by 28th May 2025, or until the works have been completed.

The road will be closed between The Tracies and Dromore, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.

There is no alternative route for this closure, however, residential and emergency access will be maintained at all times when it is safe to do so.

Pedestrian access will be maintained during the works.

 

Church Road, Eastchurch, ME12 4DF (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER JUNE 2025

To allow blockage clearance works to be carried out, Kent County Council intends to make an Order prohibiting through traffic on part of Church Road, Eastchurch, from 29th May 2025, with estimated completion by 30th May 2025, between the hours of 08:00 and 16:00, or until the works have been completed.

The road will be closed between the junctions with High Street and Rowetts Way, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.

The alternative route for any through traffic is via Rowetts Way, Leysdown Road and High Street.

Pedestrian access will be maintained during the works.

 

Festival of Transport, Various Roads, Faversham. (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER MAY 2025

To allow the Festival of Transport Event 2025 to be held, Kent County Council has made an Order to temporarily prohibit through traffic on various roads in Faversham.

Closures are planned from 17th May 2025, with estimated completion by 18th May 2025. The scheduled dates may vary for this event with appropriate signage displayed on site and the event will be displayed on One.Network

Closures are to take place from 07:00 hours through to 17:00 hours on both days. The roads will be re-opened as soon as it is safe to do so.

The following roads will be closed to the extents indicated;

Court Street will be closed between the junctions with Crescent Road and Market Place.

•  
East Street will be closed between the junctions with Newton Road and Preston Street.

•  
Market Place will be closed in its entirety.

•  
Market Street will be closed in its entirety.

•  
Middle Row will be closed in its entirety.

•  
Preston Street will be closed between the junctions with East Street and Station Road/Forbes Road.

•  
Stone Street will be closed between the junctions with Preston Street and Union Street.

•  
West Street will be closed between the junctions with Market Place and North Lane.

•  
Leslie Smith Drive will be closed in its entirety.

•  
Bank Street will be closed in its entirety.

•  
Church Road will be closed from the steps into Tesco car park to the church entrance.

•  
Church Street will be closed from Vicarage Street to the church entrance.

 

Hogbens Hill, Selling, ME13 9QU (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER MAY 2025

To allow defect works to be carried out, Kent County Council has made an Order prohibiting through traffic on part of Hogbens Hill, Selling, from 14th May 2025, with estimated completion by 15th May 2025, between the hours of 09:30 and 18:00, or until the works have been completed.

The road will be closed in the vicinity of Peacock Place, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.

The alternative route for any through traffic is via Selling Road, A2 Canterbury Road, A251 Ashford Road, Newhouse Lane, Winding Hill and vice versa.

Pedestrian access will be maintained during the works.

 

Painters Forstal Road, Ospringe, ME13 0EG (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER MAY 2025

To allow carriageway works to be carried out, Kent County Council intends to make an Order prohibiting through traffic on part of Painters Forstal Road, Ospringe, on 27th May 2025, with estimated completion by 30th May 2025, between the hours of 09:00 and 17:00. The road will be open on 28th May 2025, for one day only.

The road will be closed between the property Forstal House and Cades Orchard, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.

The alternative route for any through traffic is via Painters Forstal Road, Eastling Road, Brogdale Road, A2 London Road, A2 Ospringe Street, Water Lane and vice versa.

Pedestrian access will be maintained during the works.

 

Ruins Barn Road, Tunstall, ME9 8AA (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER MAY 2025

To allow cabling works to be carried out, Kent County Council has made an Order prohibiting through traffic on part of Ruins Barn Road, Tunstall, from 15th May 2025, for up to one day, between the hours of 09:30 and 15:30, or until the works have been completed.

The road will be closed from the junction with Broadoak Road, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.

The alternative route for any through traffic is via Ruins Barn Road, Bexon Lane, The Street, Primrose Lane, Bredgar Road, Tunstall Road and vice versa.

Pedestrian access will be maintained during the works.

 

Russell Place, Oare, ME13 0QN (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER MAY 2025

To allow underground structure works to be carried out, Kent County Council has made an Order prohibiting through traffic on part of Russell Place, Oare, from 14th May 2025, with estimated completion by 22nd May 2025, between the hours of 09:30 and 15:30, or until the works have been completed.

The road will be closed in the vicinity of number 10, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.

There is no alternative route for this closure, however, residential and emergency access will be maintained at all times when it is safe to do so.

Pedestrian access will be maintained during the works.

 

Salters Lane, Faversham, ME13 8LT (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER MAY 2025

To allow reinstatement works to be carried out, Kent County Council intends to make an Order prohibiting through traffic on part of Salters Lane, Faversham, from 21:00 hours on 27th May 2025, with estimated completion by 05:00 hours on 28th May 2025, or until the works have been completed.

The road will be closed from the junction with A2 Canterbury Road, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.

The alternative route for any through traffic is via A2 Canterbury Road, A251 Ashford Road, Salters Lane and vice versa.

Pedestrian access will be maintained during the works.

 

Saxon Avenue, Minster-on-sea, ME12 2RN (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER MAY 2025

To allow new service connection works to be carried out, Kent County Council intends to make an Order prohibiting through traffic on part of Saxon Avenue, Minster-on-sea, from 27th May 2025, with estimated completion by 3rd June 2025, or until the works have been completed.

The road will be closed between the properties Greystones and Grey Joy, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.

The alternative route for any through traffic is via Saxon Avenue, The Broadway, B2008 Minster Road, Glenwood Drive and vice versa.

Pedestrian access will be maintained during the works.

 

Sheppey Way, Iwade. (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER MAY 2025

To allow Section 278 remedial works to be carried out, Kent County Council intends to make an Order prohibiting through traffic on part of Sheppey Way, Iwade, from 20:00 hours on 27th May 2025, with estimated completion by 05:00 hours on 28th May 2025, or until the works have been completed.

The road will be closed at the junction with Bantam Way, the new Esquire Development, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.

The alternative route for any through traffic is via Bobbing Roundabout, B2006 Staplehurst Road, B2005 Mill Way, Saffron Way, B2005 Grovehurst Road, Sheppey Way and vice versa.

Pedestrian access will be maintained during the works.

 

Tonge Road, Sittingbourne, ME10 3FE (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER MAY 2025

To allow drainage cleansing works to be carried out, Kent County Council has made an Order prohibiting through traffic on part of Tonge Road, Sittingbourne, from 20:00 hours on 12th May 2025, with estimated completion by 05:00 hours on 13th May 2025, or until the works have been completed.

The road will be closed from the junction with All Saints Road, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.

The alternative route for any through traffic is via Tonge Road, Lomas Road, Church Road, Tonge, Hempstead Lane, A2 The Street, A2 Fox Hill, A2 Canterbury Road, Murston Road, Church Road, Sittingbourne, Tonge Road and vice versa.

Pedestrian access will be maintained during the works.

 

Woodstock Road, Sittingbourne, ME10 4HP (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER MAY 2025

To allow water pipe repair works to be carried out, Kent County Council intends to make an Order prohibiting through traffic on part of Woodstock Road, Sittingbourne, from 28th May 2025, with estimated completion by 30th May 2025, or until the works have been completed.

The road will be closed in the vicinity of number 71, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.

The alternative route for any through traffic is via Woodstock Road, Bell Road, Highsted Road, Cromers Road and vice versa.

Pedestrian access will be maintained during the works.
