High Street, Walthamstow - Temporary Traffic Restrictions due to Highway Reconstruction

What is happening?

ROAD TRAFFIC REGULATION ACT 1984 – SECTION 14(1)

THE WALTHAM FOREST (HIGH STREET E17 REGION)

(HIGHWAY RECONSTRUCTION)

(TEMPORARY MEASURES) (NO. 1) ORDER 2025

The Council of the LBWF HEREBY GIVES NOTICE that on 1st May 2025 it made an Order to allow for highway reconstruction works to be carried out in a safe and efficient manner in a section of High Street E17.

The general effect of the Order will be, only at such times and to such extent as regulatory signs are displayed:

(a) to prohibit vehicles from entering, proceeding, waiting or loading for any purpose in High Street E17 (HS): between its junction with Hoe Street and the western kerb line of Cleveland Park Avenue (CPA);

(b) to restrict vehicles from waiting or loading for any purpose, on both sides of CPA, between its junction with HS and the northernmost boundary of No. 259 HS;

(c) to suspend the prohibited access point in CPA outside No. 40 CPA;

(d) to prohibit motor vehicles travelling northbound in CPA, between its junctions with HS and the southernmost arm of Cleveland Park Crescent (CPC), to enter that section of CPA (between No. 24 CPA and No. 10 CPA) where entry to that section of CPA is prohibited by a no-entry sign plate situated outside No. 24 CPA

(e) to prohibit vehicles from proceeding in CPA between No. 24 CPA and No. 10 CPA in a direction other than from south to north.

The restrictions mentioned in paragraphs 2(a) and 2(b) would not apply in relation to any personnel or vehicle being used:

(i) in connection with the said works; or

(ii) for ambulance, fire brigade or police purposes (if the works allow)

(iii) for refuse service (if the works allow)

The Order will come into force on 6th May 2025 for a period of 18 months or until the works are completed, whichever is the sooner.

Note: Signs may be erected in advance of any works to help give more specific details on the exact dates of the prohibitions, and where any temporary traffic management changes will apply.

The main phase of the works are expected to be completed within 9 months, but additional time is required for contingencies.
