Leicester City Council (Central Area - City Of Leicester) (On-Street (Payment Parking Places) Variation Of Charges Notice 2025

Leicester City Council (“the Council”) intends to vary charges in exercise of its powers to issue a NOTICE OF VARIATION in accordance with Section 46A of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 as amended and by the virtue of Regulation 25 of The Local Authorities’ Traffic Orders (Procedure) (England and Wales) Regulations 1996 gives notice of its intention to vary charges as detailed below. This Notice shall not come into force before the period of 21 days from the date of this Notice and will come into force on 23rd day of May 2025. 

Section 1 below specifies road(s) for each Tariff Zone where a payment bay(s) have been installed within the City of Leicester. 

Section 2 below, indicates the new tariff bands and rates where a payment for vehicles being left within the payment bay(s) within the relevant Tariff Zone listed in Section 1 of this Notice. 

The figures in brackets show the rates before 23rd day of May 2025. The figures in bold show the new charges.

SECTION 1
Tariff Zone 1
Albion Street, Bedford Street South, Bishop Street, Blake Street, Byron Street, Calais Hill, Calais Street, Chancery Street, Charles Street, Chatham Street, Church Gate, Church Street, Clarence Street, Colton Street, Dover Street, Dryden Street (between Byron St and Old Milton St), Duke Street, Dunkirk Street, East Bond Street, Eldon Street, Fleet Street, Jubilee Road, King Street (between Marquis St and Marlborough St), Lee Street, Lower Brown Street, Marlborough Street, Mill Street, Oxford Street, Peacock Lane, Rupert Street, Rutland Street, South Albion Street, Stamford Street, Welford Road, Wellington Street, Yeoman Street and York Street. 

Tariff Zone 2
Alexander Street, All Saints Road, Blackfriars Street, Burton Street, Campbell Street, Castle Street, Clyde Street (between Humberstone Rd and Erskine St), Crescent Street, Deacon Street, De Montfort Street (between London Rd and New Walk), Dryden Street (between Old Milton St and Gower St), Fox Street, Gosling Street, Gower Street, Grange Lane, Henshaw Street, Humberstone Rd, King Street (between Princess Rd West and Regent Rd), Midland Street, Morledge Street, Museum Square, Nelson Street, Newarke Close, Nichols Street, Orchard Street, Princess Road West, Queen Street, Regent Road (between Upper King St and West St), Regent Street, Royal East Street, Soar Lane, Southampton Street, Talbot Lane, Thirlmere Street, Tower Street, The Gateway, The Newarke, Upper King Street, West Street, Wharf Street South (between Camden St and Eldon St), Wilton Street and Wimbledon Street.

Tariff Zone 3
Canning Place, Canning Street, Clyde Street (between Erskine St and Crafton St West), Coleman Road, Crafton Street West, De Montfort Square, De Montfort Street (between New Walk and Lancaster Rd), Eastern Boulevard, Erskine Street, Friday Street, Gladstone Street, Grafton Place, Princess Road East, Regent Road (between De Montfort St and University Rd), Salisbury Road, St John Street, St Margaret’s Street, University Road, Wharf Street South (between Crafton St West and Wheat St), Watling Street, West Walk and West Walk - Central Parking Area. 

Tariff Zone 4: - London Road (A594 to Evington Rd)
Tariff Zone 5: - London Road (Evington Rd to B568)

SECTION 2
Subject to the maximum period of waiting specified in the Part number listed in Section 5 of Leicester City Council (Various Roads, Leicester) (Amendments to Pay and Display - Pay by Phone Designated Parking Places, Sunday Charges) Order 2025 and any other Order therein after, the initial charge for a vehicle left in a parking place referred to within Schedule 1 of that Order shall be:-

PLEASE NOTE:-
1. Blue Badge Holders may park free of charge displaying in a relevant position a valid disabled badge.

2. Solo Motor Cycles may park free of charge, parking within the limits of the bay.

3. Loading/Unloading is free of charge, but when that activity is finished and the vehicle is left in the same position then the driver must pay in line with Section 2 of this Notice.

4. Loading/Unloading from a vehicle greater than 35cwt may not wait after that activity has finished.
