What is happening?
NORTH LANARKSHIRE COUNCIL
A71 OVERTOWN ROAD, NEWMAINS (TEMPORARY ROAD CLOSURE) ORDER 2025
On 28 April 2025 the North Lanarkshire Council made the above-named Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended by Schedule 1 of the Road Traffic (Temporary Restrictions) Act 1991, and in exercise of all other enabling powers, which makes it unlawful for any person to drive or cause or permit to be driven any motor vehicle (with the exception of vehicles engaged on construction of new roundabout associated with proposed residential development) on A71 Overtown Road, Newmains from Woodhall Road to A73 Main Street, a distance of 300m or thereby by reason of works being executed on or near that location.
Alternative routes: vehicles on the south side of the closure wishing to access the north side of the closure should proceed via A71 Overtown Road, A721 Wishaw Road and A73 Main Street.
Vehicles on the north side of the closure wishing to access the south side of the closure should proceed vice versa.
The Order, will come into operation at 0001 hours on Monday, 12 May 2025 and will remain in operation until 2359 hours on Sunday, 14 September 2025.
