TEMPORARY TRAFFIC REGULATION ORDER 2025


Sunderland City Council gives notice that on 2nd May 2025 it made an Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, the effect of which is to temporarily prohibit all vehicular traffic from the sections of carriageways described in the schedule. The Order is required to allow for repairs to the gas main to take place. The order comes into force on 12th May 2025. The maximum duration of the closure under the Order will be eighteen months. All vehicles will be prohibited from the sections of carriageways described in the schedule (except for personnel involved in the works), until the works are completed or at such times and to such extent as may from time to time be indicated by the display of traffic signs. An alternative route will be provided via the adjacent highways network.
Schedule Borough Road from its junction with Toward Road to its junction with Hudson Road; Foyle Street from its junction with Borough Road to the extended party property boundary of 15 and 16 Foyle Street; Norfolk Street from its junction with Borough Road to the extended party property boundary of 36 and 37 Norfolk Street; Tatham Street West Back from its junction with Borough Road to its junction with Tavistock Place; Tatham Street for its entire extent; Lindsay Road from its junction with Tatham Street to its junction with Whitehouse Road; Meaburn Street from its junction with Tatham Street for a distance of 10 metres in a south-westerly direction; Murton Street from its junction Tatham Street for a distance of 10 metres in a south-westerly direction; Pauls Road from its junction with Tatham Street for a distance of 10 metres in an easterly direction; and Salisbury Street from its junction with Tatham Street for a distance of 10 metres in a south-westerly direction.
