What is happening?

Portsmouth City Council (Kingston Road - Side Roads) (Temporary Road Closure) (Temporary Prohibition of Loading and Waiting) (No.85) Order 2025

Notice is hereby given that Portsmouth City Council intends to make the above Order under Section 14(1)(a) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended by the Road Traffic (Temporary Restrictions) Act 1991.
The Order comes into operation from 19th May 2025 and the effect will be as follows:
A) TEMPORARY ROAD CLOSURE AND PROHIBITION OF LOADING AND WAITING
HANWAY ROAD
From its junction with Kingston Road to Kilmiston Close.
SULTAN ROAD
From its junction with Kingston Road to side of No.13 to No.17 Kingston Road.
LITTLE ARTHUR STREET
From its junction with Kingston Road for 20 metres.
TORONTO ROAD
From its junction with Kingston Road for 20 metres.
BINSTEED ROAD
From its junction with Kingston Road for 20 metres.
B) REASON FOR THE ORDER
To facilitate survey works.
C) DURATION OF THE ORDER
From 19th May 2025 to 22nd May 2025 or completion of the works, whichever is sooner. Notwithstanding the above, works will take place overnight between 20:00 to 05:00. Notwithstanding the above, works will take place in sections as notified by signage and letters to residents in advance of works taking place.
D) DIVERSION
Vehicles will be diverted from:
Hanway Road - Kingston Road, Washington Road, Hanway Road and Fratton Road, Lake Road, Kingston Road, Washington Road, Hanway Road.
Little Arthur Street - Kingston Road, Washington Road, Hanway Road and Kingston Road Hanway Road.
Toronto Road and Binsteed Road - Kingston Road, New Road, Langley Road or Kingston Road, Queens Road, Langley Road.
Pedestrian access will be maintained around the works.
Cycles to follow vehicle diversion or dismount and follow pedestrian diversion around the works.
