Bury – Multiple Temporary Road Closures due to Works
What is happening?

THE METROPOLITAN BOROUGH OF BURY
(CHURCH LANE/BURY NEW RD & BANK ST, WHITEFIELD)
TEMPORARY NO LEFT TURN & TEMPORARY CLOSURE ORDER 2025
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the Council of the Metropolitan Borough of Bury have made an Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 and of all other enabling powers, the effect of which will be to prohibit vehicles and pedestrians** from proceeding along:–
- Church Lane, Whitefield – at its junction with Bury New Road
- Bank St, Whitefield – at its junction with Church Lane
- No left turn from Church Lane into Bury New Road, Whitefield
- *Church Lane, Whitefield – northerly side footway between Bank Street and Bury New Road & Bury New Road, westerly side footway, from its junction with Bank Street for a distance of 40 m in a north-westerly direction
The reason for the proposed order is to facilitate Metrolink tunnel upgrade works.
For the closure from Church Lane into Bury New Rd & the no left turn from Church Lane into Bury New Road, the alternative route will be via Higher Lane & Bury New Road.
For the closure from Bury New Road into Church Lane, the alternative route will be via Bury New Road (southbound) to the M60 Junction 17 roundabout & Bury New Road (northbound)
The alternative route for pedestrians will be via the southerly side footway (Church Lane) & the easterly side footway (Bury New Rd)
The Order will come into operation on Saturday 03 May 2025 and shall remain in force for a period of up to 12 months, although the anticipated duration of the works is 6 months.

(NON-DEFINITIVE FOOTPATH FROM ST ANDREW’S ROAD TO HARDMAN CLOSE, RADCLIFFE)
TEMPORARY CLOSURE ORDER 2025
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the Council of the Metropolitan Borough of Bury have made an Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 and of all other enabling powers, the effect of which will be to prohibit any members of the public from proceeding along:–
Non-definitive footpath from St Andrew’s Road to Hardman Close, Radcliffe
The reason for the proposed order is to facilitate footbridge reconstruction works.
The alternative route will be via St Andrew’s Road, Brookbottom Road & Hardman Street & vice-versa
The Order will come into operation on Tuesday 06 May 2025 and shall remain in force for a period of up to 6 months (although the anticipated work duration will be up to 2 weeks).

(PILSWORTH ROAD, BURY)
TEMPORARY CLOSURE 2025
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the Council of the Metropolitan Borough of Bury have made an Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 and of all other enabling powers, the effect of which will be to prohibit vehicles from proceeding along:–
Pilsworth Road, Bury – between Roach Bank Road and a point 40 m east of the M66 south bound slip road
The reason for the proposed order is to facilitate carriageway resurfacing works.
The alternative route will be via Croft Lane, Hollins Brow, Manchester Road, Angouleme Way, Rochdale Road, Bury, Heap Bridge, Bury New Road, Bury Old Road & Moss Hall Road, Rochdale & vice–versa
M66 north bound junction 3 slip road exit closure diversions as follows:–
M66 northbound, use junction 2, Rochdale Road, Angouleme Way, Manchester Road, Hollins Brow & Croft Lane or Heap Bridge, Bury New Road, Heap Brow & Moss Hall Road or Rochdale Road, Angouleme Way, Manchester Road, Hollins Brow & Croft Lane
M66 south bound junction 3 slip road exit closure diversions as follows:–
M66 south bound, use Junction 4, M62 easterly bound to junction 19, Queen Elizabeth Way, Hares Hill Road or M62 westerly bound to junction 17, Bury New Road, Manchester Road, Hollins Brow & Croft Lane
The Metropolitan Borough of Bury (Hollins Area, Bury) (Weight Restriction) Order 2011 will be temporarily revoked to facilitate these diversions.
The Order will come into operation on Tuesday 06 May 2025 and shall remain in force for a period of up to 12 months, although the anticipated duration of the works is 3 weeks (overnight working, 8pm–5am)
