What is happening?

ROAD TRAFFIC REGULATION ACT 1984 - SECTION 14(1)
U6722 SCHALKSMUHLE ROAD BEDLINGTON
(TEMPORARY ROAD CLOSURE)
ORDER 2025

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that Northumberland County Council intends to make an Order to prohibit the use by vehicular traffic on that section of Schalksmuhle Road from its point with the A1068 Glebe Road Roundabout for a distance of 292 metres in an easterly direction in the County of Northumberland.
The Order is to be effective from the 19th May 2025 until the 19th November 2025.
It is expected that the road will only be closed from the 19th May 2025 until the 21st May 2025 between 20:00 and 06:00 during this period; however, the order will remain in place until 19th November 2025.
An alternative route will be available for use whilst the TTRO is in force being U6722, B1331, A193, A1068 and vice versa and should the need arise changes may be made to the alternative routes, where possible these changes will be signposted accordingly.

The closure has been requested by Northumberland County Council for removal of traffic islands as part of the Bedlington Active Travel Link.
In order to minimise future disruption, other contractors may be undertaking works throughout the duration of this Order.
