Notice of Confirmation of an Order Highways Act 1980
Public Path Diversion Order
Footpath 29 Hatfield Peverel In The District of Braintree
On 17 April 2025 Essex County Council confirmed the above order made under section 119 of the Highways Act 1980. The effect of the order as confirmed is to divert a part length of Footpath 29 Hatfield Peverel commencing from a point in front of the entrance gateway to Chase Cottage, Wickham Bishops Road, Hatfield Peverel CM3 2JL at grid reference 58089,21191, proceeding north northwestward through the gateway, along the driveway then through a boundary fence into wooded scrubland, then continuing in a west south-westward direction through the scrubland passing north of Sandford’s Farm outbuildings to the field edge where the path then proceeds in a general north north-westward direction along the headland to a point approximately 20 metres southeast of the hedge gap into the next field, to an alternative route commencing from the aforementioned point at the Chase Cottage gateway proceeding in a west south-westward direction adjacent to the garden fencing then heading north north-westward between Chase Cottage garden fencing and Sandford’s Farm outbuildings where it then continues generally north westward through a thicket to the aforementioned point at the field edge southeast of the hedge gap, as shown on the order map.

Copies are also available on Essex Highways website at: https://www.essexhighways.org/public-path-notices and have also been sent to Braintree District and Hatfield Peverel Parish Councils.
The alternative route comes into force on 15/05/2025 and the old route will be stopped up with effect from 22/05/2025, but if a person aggrieved by the order wants to question its validity, or that of any provision contained in it, on the ground that it is not within the powers of the Highways Act 1980, as amended, or on the ground that any requirement of the Act, as amended, or of any regulation made under the Act has not been complied with in relation to the Order, he or she may, under paragraph 2 of Schedule 2 to the Act as applied by paragraph 5 of Schedule 6 to the Act, within 6 weeks from 01/05/2025 make an application to the High Court.
(Champions Way, South Woodham Ferrers)
(Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2025
Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council intends, not less than seven days from the date of this notice, to make the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.
Effect of the order: To temporarily close that length of Champions Way, South Woodham Ferrers in the City of Chelmsford, from a point approximately 10m north east of its junction with Longhams Drive for a distance of approximately 35m in a north east then north westerly direction. The closure is scheduled to commence on 26th May 2025 for 10 days, or where stated on a valid permit (BC311004WG3P4P8L – Openreach).
The scheduled dates may vary for these works with appropriate signs showing and/or displayed on one.network. The closure is required for the safety of the public and workforce while duct laying works are undertaken by Openreach.
An alternative route is available via Champions Way and vice versa.
The Order will come into effect on 8th May 2025 and may continue in force for 18 months or until the works have been completed, whichever is the earlier.
(Sudbury Road, Downham)
(Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2025
Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council intends, not less than seven days from the date of this notice, to make the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.
Effect of the order: To temporarily close the length of Sudbury Road, Downham in the City of Chelmsford, from a point of approximately 170m south west of its junction with Brook Hill for a distance of approximately 550m in south westerly direction. The closure is scheduled to commence on 28th May 2025 for 2 days, or where stated on a valid permit (BC008WG5HR38L01ETHSB – Openreach).
The scheduled dates may vary for these works with appropriate signs showing and/or displayed on one.network.
The closure is required for the safety of the public and workforce while spine cabling works are undertaken by Openreach.
An alternative route is available via Sudbury Road, Hawkswood Road, Dowsett Lane, Downham Road, Church Road, School Road and vice versa.
The Order will come into effect on 8th May 2025 and may continue in force for 18 months or until the works have been completed, whichever is the earlier.
(New London Road Bus Lane, Chelmsford)
(Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2025
Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council has made the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.
Effect of the order: To temporarily close that length of New London Road Bus Lane, Chelmsford in the City of Chelmsford, from a point approximately 45m north east of its junction with Elm Road for a distance of approximately 30m in a north easterly direction as stated in ‘The Borough of Chelmsford (New London Road and Moulsham Street) (Part)) (Prohibition of Driving) Order 2000’.
The closure is scheduled to commence on 09:00 11th May 2025 until 17:00 11th May 2025 and again 09:00 18th May 2025 until 17:00 18th May 2025 (2 Sundays), or where stated on a valid permit (BC008OGEA90765603SB – Openreach).
The scheduled dates may vary for these works with appropriate signs showing and/or displayed on one.network.
The closure is required for the safety of the public and workforce while ducting works are undertaken by Openreach.
No alternative route is available.
The Order came into effect on 24th April 2025 and may continue in force for 18 months or until the works have been completed, whichever is the earlier.
