M271 MOTORWAY - NEAR SOUTHAMPTON TEMPORARY TRAFFIC RESTRICTIONS

Notice is hereby given that National Highways Limited intends to make an Order on the M271 Motorway in the County of Hampshire and the Unitary Authority of Southampton, under Section 14(1)(a) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 because works are proposed to be executed on the road.

The effect of the Order would be to authorise the total weekend closure of the southbound carriageway of the M271 between Rownhams Interchange (M27 Junction 3) and Junction 1 (Nursling Interchange), and the road leading from it at Junction 1 (Nursling Interchange). These measures would be in the interests of road safety while contractors undertake concrete block replacement and all associated works.

It is expected that the work would last for 1 weekend between 21:00 hours Friday 30th May and 06:00 hours Monday 2nd June 2025. The Order would come into force on 28th May 2025 and have a maximum duration of eighteen months, ceasing when the works are complete.

Traffic affected by the closures would be diverted northbound on the M271, southbound on the A3057, and westbound on Brownhill Way. The temporary closures and diversion route would be clearly indicated by traffic signs when they are in operation during the works period.
