Kendal, Temporary Road Closures due to Flood Risk Management Works

What is happening?

WESTMORLAND AND FURNESS COUNCIL (KENT PLACE AND ST GEORGE’S WALK, KENDAL) (TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF ALL TRAFFIC) ORDER 2025

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that to enable flood risk management works to be carried out (“the Works”), Westmorland and Furness Council has made an Order the effect of which is to prohibit all traffic (i.e. vehicles, pedestrians and cyclists), from proceeding along the following sections of road in Kendal;

St George’s Walk, from its junction with Castle Street extending in a south easterly direction to its junction with Castle Crescent.

A suitable alternative route will be available as follows;

South east bound traffic: Via Castle Street and Castle Crescent.

North west bound traffic: Via Castle Crescent, Castle Street, Ann Street and Stramongate.

Kent Place from a point approx. 45 metres south from its junction with Lowther Street, extending in a southerly direction for a distance of approx. 120 metres. There is no suitable alternative route. (Ref: TTROW/14504)

The Order will come into operation on 5 May 2025 and may continue in force for a maximum duration of eighteen months. However, please note that it is anticipated that the restrictions will only be required as and when the appropriate traffic signs are displayed.
