Manchester City Council

Notice is hereby given that Manchester City Council has made the CITY OF MANCHESTER (SPEED LIMIT ORDER 2017) (AMENDMENT NO.3) (STYAL ROAD) ORDER 2025 under the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984. The effect of the Order is to:

(1) Revoke the 40MPH Speed Limit on the following lengths of road, thereby making them subject to the national Restricted Road Speed Limit of 30MPH:

B5166 Styal Road, from the boundary with Cheshire East Council to its junction with Simonsway; and Styal Road, both sides from a point 78 metres south of its junction with Ringway Road to the boundary with Stockport MBC.

(2) Consolidate the descriptions of lengths of road that are currently subject to a 40MPH SPEED LIMIT so that they are now described as: A555, Manchester from its junction with Ringway Road to the boundary with Stockport MBC.

The Order was made on 29 April 2025 and will come into operation on 5 May 2025. (The above provisions were previously promoted as part of the City of Manchester (Speed Limits) (Various Roads Order 2017) (Amendment No.3) Order 2024 which included lengths of Mancunian Way, Kingsway and Parrs Wood Road for the same speed limit reduction - those changes will now be progressed by way of separate Orders in due course).

Orders have been amended to be consistent with the above.

A copy of the made Order, the plan and copies of the Orders that have been amended may be inspected at Customer Service Centre, Ground Floor, Town Hall Extension M60 2LA (for Sat. Nav. use M2 5DB) between the hours of 9am and 4.30pm on Monday to Friday inclusive. Anyone wishing to question the validity of the Order or any provision contained in it on the grounds that it is not within the powers conferred by the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 or that any requirement of that Act or of any instrument made under it has not been complied with in relation to the Order may within 6 weeks from 29 April 2025 apply to the High Court for such purpose.

Fiona Ledden, City Solicitor PO Box 532 Town Hall, Manchester M60 2LA. Dated: 1 May 2025
